Yeah the other stories lately of animals being shot is just universal stupidity...but this...this fucker...is an asshole. I mean sure they'll be euthanized anyway, but you know, that's a needle and sedative. You don't turn someone's back yard into Kitty Dachau.

I can understand if the shelter is full, but he could take them there and kill the kittens and not in front of someone's house. Shooting them in front of someone's house is more dangerous than necessary imo.

What would need to be running through your mind to think that shooting a family of kittens outside of a residence with children inside would be acceptable and right in any way?

Why is he even carrying a firearm when responding to this kind of a call? 5 kittens, dangerous situation unfolding, need backup!

    what a piece of shit
Well then get your shit together.
Get it all together. And put it in a backpack. All your shit. So it’s together. And if you gotta take it somewhere, take it somewhere, you know, take it to the shit store and sell it, or put it in a shit museum, I don’t care what you do, you just gotta get it together.

This is why I hate people in general.

Yes. Because no one wants 8-10 week old kittens.

Who's the bigger retard, the officer that shot the kittens, or the Chief that condones this and won't bother disciplining his officer.
There are already too many retarded people with guns, guess its time to euthanize them.

I could see my mother blowing up at this if it were more local, but still rage as it is; as shes the founder of a nonprofit feral cat/kitten rescue society.

Why does it matter how we kill animals?

How much does a bullet cost versus transportation, and euthanization of these cats?

Not if they are diseased and feral.

If there were so many people who wanted kittens then none would ever be euthanized right?

you realize if they were feral that doesnt mean they cant be domesticated where they would make good pets

You realize you live in a fairy tale world believing these kittens could be saved and given to good homes right? If this fairy tale world of yours existed the shelter wouldn't have been full right?

Fairy tale world? My female who is 3 years old, was a feral cat. We fed it, and her family. And at 2-3 months old it was the only come that kept coming back. Built a friendship with it. Now she sleeps with us every night, and way friendlier than my male who born into domestication.

Technically, feral kittens are much easier to tame than feral cats. Granted, getting those kittens into a home with people willing to tame them would be the most difficult part, since the shelter isn't going to do it.

Actually, that is pretty much exactly what feral means. Who would take the time to try and train a wild disease ridden animal when they could get a domesticated healthy one from the exact same place?

Now obviously that doesn't make shooting them okay, but the end result is the same. The office shouldn't be fired for killing kittens as those kittens would be dead by now anyways, he should be fired for discharging his weapon without due cause and in a very unsafe area.
These aren't the spoilers you're looking for.

    Move along.

Lets look at things objectively, rather than emotionally (and I am a cat lover)

1 - They where feral, once a cat goes feral then it is unlikely to ever be a house cat.
2 - Feral cats are usually full of flea's and carry infections such as Salmonellosis, Cryptosporidiosis, Campylobacterosis all of which cause diarrhea in humans source
3 - The mother cat was aggressive and would no doubt have attacked a child who wanted to "Pet Kitty"
4 - The children where indoors when the officer shot the animals.

in my opinion what was done was for the best, there is no way to re-home a feral cat. Only thing that should have been done differently is that the children should not have been able to witness it.

I own two cats. Both of which were feral. Tamed them both. Best damn cats I ever owned. So don't say they cant be tamed.

So he should have looped them around the neck (can't think of what that thing is called), pulled them out of the woodpile, brought them to a shelter to be euthanized (probably right away). With the exception of the kids being around, I don't think what he did is a very big deal but that could be the farmer in my talking.
