    Honest Reviews of Draenor?

Ok, so past all the shit and garbage about the queue, and some bugs... Once you actually got in, and got to play... what did we think??

I'm currently 97... gone through the first... 4 Zones... Frostfire, Gorgond, Talador, and Most way through Arakk... Personally, I'm pretty happy with it. There are positive and negatives to condensing the quests to more of a storyline linear type quests... mainly just kind of making it overcrowded, but the story itself is amazing... I don't feel like the quests are super grindy, they don't seem as annoying as some previous expansions. Levelling seems pretty fast... I'm 97 and probably have had an actual play time of around 8-10 hrs... A lot of features are making things easy to use, I do enjoy all the little timeless isle type features the recycled on the minimap with the expansion... Talador the end of zone had the most amazing fucking cinematic I think I've seen in game... I won't say for spoiler reasons, but when you see it you'll know... I wasn't crazy about Arakk until I got to the little haunted zone, so it feels like there's enough variety that every zone is at least a little fun... how does everyone else feel?

    Zones are beautiful,
    Quests are well done,
    Ashran is pointless,
    Garrisons are amaze-balls,
    Raiding is too far away.

    Queues are crap

Im loving it. Finally managed to play 3-4hours today, after awful queue times in EU ( i managed to play today, after waiting in 6h queue bear in mind)
But still im loving it. I mean questing is not just, go slay 10 boars, and skin 10 wolfes.
You have rares all over the place, chests, etc, bonus missions, and going back to your garrison to build something, or start missions etc, it feels amazing, and zones are raelly beautiful. Atleast i saw the first two still ( Frostfire and Gorgong).

    And the Outpost thingies, awesome.
Lets now hope Blizzard doesnt fuck up the expansion with future patchs.

Everyone is mostly reading the text on the quests again.

    That says it all really.

Of course Blizzard uses smart techniques to do it: Garrisons let you think about orders/builds/crafts/quests/patrols.

So adding some voice over stuff and some elementary puzzling along with the renewed motivation of actually reading through the quests/orders, you get a nice questing flow.

The music is also excellent and sets the mood mostly correct.

WOD questing and story telling is superior to all previous expansions. They learned a lot by looking at the past expansions.

For anyone who hasn't hit Nagrand yet, take the outpost which gives you the frostwolf. It's castable in combat, you stayed mounted through combat, can harvest on it, and you retain the speed through anything but snares/stuns

Pretty sure there is only a small minority who actually gives a damn about the story in detail. Not saying the quests are bad as I don't play myself...but I always laugh when people pretend that a lot of people care for the same thing they do.

Basically, the same as the start of every expansion before it, minus garrison comments.
It doesn't feel like the start of every expansion though. It's weird

It's new, it's something you can talk about, hype about and whatnot...you can't say whether it's better or worse till 1-2 months in till you are back to the usual.

    Zone aesthetics are pleasing 9/10
Dungeon difficulty on heroic 10/10 not overtuned but not idiot proof/faceroll.
    Garrisons 10/10 fantastic idea.
overall 9/10 so far minus the server issues we will just forget that happened -_-

Fantastic. I'm a big fan of the dungeons, the zones, the music, everything (except the queues obvs xD). I've enjoyed leveling and gearing and exploring and pretty much everything 1000000000000000000000000 more times than MoP.

    Lvl 94 Horde perspective...

    The good:
    Beautiful zones
Meaningful quests, not overly long or RNG based
Garrisons. Thought I would hate them but I'm loving them
Bonus objectives. Suddenly our toons have brains!
Cinematics are stunning. Almost cried during the Thunder Pass final cut scene

    The not so good:
    Ashran. Bad design, feels cheap
Healing. We were promised triage and mana management. Not delivered. Even worse if we suddenly need it at 100. Almost has me longing for the days of 5sr weaving.
    Queues

Curiously the 2 negatve reactions on this post came ... from .... people not even playing the game...

Yes actually, like The Pod cast of the Instance mentioned, you DO need to read most text in this expansion because it was smartly designed compared to previous ones.

For instance it DOES matter you look through the different missions/patrols in your Garrisons before you decide to put followers on them to have a bigger chance of success.

Adding to this is the flow of the general questing pace that is different from earlier content. Why ?

because you actually need to THINK before sending out patrols or build things (along with the quests).

Unless you played you indeed have no clue how much impact these fortifications have on your global experience in the game.

    I absolutely love the expansion.
    Garrisons are eff'ing amazing.
I actually really like the layout of Ashran.
Each zone is immaculate. Even Spires...it's got a certain feel to it that I love (admiral taylor questline ftw)
Heroic dungeons are amazing. The difficulty is awesome, and warlord zaela from heroic UBPS is one of my favorite dungeon fights ever.
Followers are awesome. Legendary questline chapter 1 is awesome, and garrison's giving stones is neat too.
Quest loot is awesome. Exploration is awesome.
Everything. Is. Awesome. *queue Lego Movie song*

From a questing / zone / art perspective, this is the best content they've ever done. By a mile.

You're not going to find many honest reviews on this website. Better luck somewhere else.

This pretty much sums it up. I'm loving the questing and Bonus Objective quests. Also I feel a real ugency to level because I want to get my garrison up and producing. Also unlocking followers while questing makes me want to quest even more. They did a really nice job with the leveling, IMO. 100 dungeons are pretty good, can't wait for raiding.

Your reaction was one of non belief... while you didn't even acquire the expansion. BTW: My quote came from "The instance" itself where everyone was surpised they actually needed to read most text on missions and even quests to decide what to do and plan accordingly.

This leads to a much better immersion of it all.

I think commenting with disdain like you did without even buying the game is simply nonsense.

Play the game first then comment.

Better than expected. Especially the Draenei stuff is great; we are getting a glimpse of their society and technology in all its glory.

Downside is that you are FORCED to do all of the garrison stuff on EVERY character with important professions, even if you wouldn't otherwise play them too much. And it's the same thing every time. "There's precisely one way you are allowed to progress and level, and you will be screwed if you don't do it!!"

Also, the pet battle ring in the garrison is completely unnecessary, retarded and steals a spot from a building that would actually be useful.

Putting aside the horrible queues and failed launch. The new content is very good, on par with MoP and better than Cataclysm at launch. The Garrison is probably the best thing they have added since Transmogs, it's a bit grindy at first but totally worth the monetary and time investment. I like that all the new abilities (except for level 100 talents) are passives. The quest chains are pretty good, though in my opinion the Alliance have the much better quest chains and characters. I honestly found Yrel to be a much better and far more interesting character than Durotar, who was kind of flat and basically a hunched version of Thrall (I'm aware they are related). The dungeons are also much better than anything they did in Cataclysm and MoP. I only did Highmaul in beta (like the first couple of bosses) but I liked what I saw, fairly standard raid nothing out of this world.

Other than the missing Belf models and flying (hopefully coming in 6.1) I'm liking WoD quite a bit. Can't wait for Tannan Jungle to open up.

I couldn't agree more, totally unnecessary would be more useful to trade it for another small/medium building or maybe something to do with cooking/archeology. Pet battles don't need a dedicated hub on the garrison imo.
