The US army weird me out...

    http://www.cnn.com/2015/03/13/world/...ope/index.html

Just scroll through the picture in this article. For 15 years I've seen the US army being in the desert, wearing TAN uniform and painting their tank TAN. I was like WOW they must be expert master at desert fighting, and they just look SOO BADD ASS in the desert with the desert camouflage. Although, I don't really see the US military parade around like in Russia, seeing the US army in TAN desert uniform and camouflage for 15 years really convinced me that they're REALLY good in the desert. The TAN color has become so iconic to me subconsciously that I believe IT IS the US army... so when I see the tan color, I'm like YEP... US army.

...Then all of a sudden I see these pictures of them in the forest environment of Europe and I'm like NOPE. Green painted armor personal carrier? nope. That's Russian vehicles. That's not US vehicle. US vehicle are TAN painted. What? US troop wearing green uniform camouflage? I'm like... NOPE... US troops wear TAN colored uniform. Not only do I not believe that the green camouflage is not the US military, I had a hard time believing and buying that it's credible that these US troop are competent in this environment. I STRONGLY feel that the US army IS the desert, IN the desert. With the TAN. That's how it should be. The US army shouldn't... I just can't buy the US army in any other color but the color of desert tan. In fact, the US shouldn't be anywhere else.

Please... this isn't the US army. It's some other army. The US army is in the desert.

Please... I just feel so weird out seeing this for the first time after seeing them for 15 years in tan and the desert... I just can't see it.

The US army just weirded me out soo much.

    Someone... halp me.

That's funny, I remember a time before the US really had tan anything. I remember when they started with the tan stuff, when we got involved in Iraq. Before that, army green was pretty universal.

I hear the Norwegians are theoretically capable of fighting where there is no snow.

People being kind of rude up in here. If he's a bit younger and not from US I can totally understand if all the images he's seen of US army have been involved with CENTCOM operations.

Yes, but that's Navy... so it's like a separate branch of the US army that I accept subconsciously as blue like the tan for the US army. In my mind BLUE IS the US navy, you understand? my shock is as if the Navy started wearing red or yellow. This is how I feel seeing the US army in TAN for 15 years and then all of a sudden they switch to green.

I just can't believe that that's the US army. I feel the shock strongly. To me the US army is in the desert and they ARE tan. To see them in green... all I feel is two:

    1) That must be Russian or other military
    2) They must be incompetent because they're not US military.

It's just the shock I feel is so strong it reverberate through my body over and over and over again seeing the US army in green. It's something I can't accept that the US army is in green instead of tan. THE US ARMY HAS TO BE IN TAN. WTF. JUST WTF!! GAHH!!! I JUST CAN'T WRAP MY MIND AROUND IT!!!

But virtually every military uniform varies on location over various countries

    Possibly

However the US consists of plenty of non desert terrain.

It is reasonable to assume any country is capable of fighting (and equipping for) in any terrain found within its borders. A safe bet

Sure, we can acknowledge that this is logical, but the OP was just talking about the iconic depiction of the US vs Russia. I can understand where he's coming from on that.

You can always tell where a US Army unit is expecting to deploy by the color of its vehicles. Camouflage only works if it blends in....
