    Cool Rogue Re-design: Would you play a ranged Rogue?

    No, not hunters, Kappa.

    If they gave us an Assassination spec based around shurikens or something like that, would you play it?

    How would you make it work? What abilities would it have?

    Id honestly be pissed off if they took Assassination and made it ranged, I unlike most people like it. I cannot stand Sub, take that and do whatever you want with it.

    If it plays interestingly enough and has good looking weapons: sure.

    would depend on how it plays... ranged would likely be teh expected way to raid depending on how things turned out.

    Ranged rogue is a dangerous concept.

    Rogue isn't designed to be ranged. They have stealth, they have numerous extremely powerful defensive cooldowns to keep them alive while standing in melee and getting hit by everything under the sun. They also have unparalleled mobility.

    If you take all that and make it ranged, it becomes extremely powerful.

    Also melee are always a liability and bad to bring to a fight unless you actually NEED melee for some reason like interrupts. You'd be stuck being ranged all the time unless the damage it dealt was dramatically subpar, in which case why bother having it in the first place?

    It's a different situation than melee hunter because sacrificing your ranged to go melee is a big deal. Sacrificing your melee to go ranged would be a fucking blessing.

    I do think it would be cool though, since Sub is supposed to be made to be more like ninjas or whatever, if there was a talent you could grab with sub that basically made your primary abilities capable as acting as ranged attacks. Similar to speccing shuriken toss and deadly throw, have them be about 75% as strong as the real deal but work at a distance and just switch based on your distance to the target. I've seen that sort of scene before where a ninja had to retreat and started throwing shurkens at everyone on their way out or while chasing someone down.

    I would absolutely play ranged rogue. As the weeks since Legion's announcement have worn on, I've shifted my thoughts from Assassination as ranged more to Subtlety because of the thoughts that assassination is said to be a dot spec while subtlety will be like a ninja.

    We have Shuriken toss and deadly throw, as well as a few other good, mid-range abilities that can be pooled into subtlety for a ninja class. It could be pretty fun, all told.

    No. Just because hunters get a melee specialisation? Instead of trying to innovate, come up with something fresh, and improve on what already exists, while working to create a more immersive experience; to get players to move away from the raw mechanics and into the feel of the class; the only new idea to come up is... to do the reverse that is being done to hunters? Disappointing.

    The idea of delving deeper into each class' niche sounds far better to me.

    Would i like rogues to have a ranged spec? yes, because there is design space for that kind of 'dark ranger'-like character that fits the rogue theme more than it fits the wow hunter. It would be positive in the long term and would make a more flexible and better class overall.

    Would i play said spec? i'm a team player, if that's what we need i will, but i love playing at melee, and i love playing with my rogue. Having the possibility would be great though.

    We already have ranged Rogues... They are a different class called Hunters... Why the hell would anyone want two of the same class? (Looking at both the ranged Rogue and Dark Ranger people...)

    Maybe something like this: Slow Heavy Damage with bleed effects

    No, not really. Just because they use ranged weapons doesn't mean that they cover all the archery archetypes out there. We should know better, since we've seen how they introduced an agile melee fighter as a new class twice.

    Would rather get bows/crossbows if we got a ranged spec to counterbalance Hunters getting polearms.

    I think it could work for Subtlety with the least reworking. The main thing that would need reworking is backstab.
    I don't think it would work for Combat at all. Combat's heavily based around Blade Flurry, and Killing Spree is right out.
    I think it could work for Assassination but it would need reworking. Deadly Poison/Envenom would need to be retuned for the reduced hit rate and Rupture would probably need to be changed because of how well it scales when you're multidotting.
    If you are particularly bold, you could use a Shiny Ditto. Do keep in mind though, this will infuriate your opponents due to Ditto's beauty. Please do not use Shiny Ditto. You have been warned.

    I would play a ranged rogue, but ever since I played SW:ToR, I've been DYING to have a healing spec for rogues. I just loved having to manage energy, knowing that I could burst heal very hard if needed, but the throughput would be lower as a result.

    I would prefer they don't change assassination or any other rogue spec to ranged. If I want to play a class that is similar to rogue but ranged, then I will play my hunter. Focus on a hunter fills a lot like energy generation on a rogue. Hunters have camouflage which is similar to stealth.
