In the year 2050 there will be close to 10 billion people living on earth (7.3 billion right now).
Humanity grows at a rate of 1,2% right now compared to 2% fifty years ago.

One of the biggest changes to come this century is the enourmes growth in Africa where the number of people is expected to grow from 1.2 billion right now to an expected 4.4 billion at the end of the century.
This would mean that 1 in 3 (!) people on earth would live in Africa in the year 2100!

How can this end well?

Actually slavery is a huge part of African custom. There are more slaves in Africa caused by Africans than at any time in history. African nations have enslaved other entire African nations. They just don't have the ability to do so outside of Africa.

Hold i'm a bit puzzled. If there's 10billion by 2050 and we grow at 1.2% per year, wouldn't that mean by 2100 there'd be 16billion.
Would mean an awkward number cause 4.4b x 3 = 13.2b which is a near 2b difference. 4.4b x 4 = 17.2b which is a smaller difference. Closer to 1 in 4 than 1 in 3.

Or am i being silly?

This is a rough estimate, but you need to take into account the fact that with that many people being born, into a country that barely had any water supplies in it, quite simply children will be born and die just as quickly, so the growth will only lead to more dying young.

Humanity needs some population control, people need to stop having children so often.

10 billion isn't so bad.

As healthcare improves in developing nations, the birthrate will drop to match the survival rates. Eventually it will stabilise. Many Western countries only have a steadily increasing population due to immigration. Unless you want to tell a bunch of old people that they have to work to 75 before they claim their pension (and remember, old people vote), then an increasing population is needed to sustain our economies.

Big changes will come when the global population stops growing.
