Do you associate with people from the middle east?

So I'm curious if anyone here actually associates with any Muslims or anyone from the middle east. Either as friends or as business associates. There's a few of them in my electronics classes. A couple of them usually join up with me for labs and stuff. They're genuinely good people. Though one of them always wants me to give him all the answers. It's interesting to hear about where they come from and reminds me that they aren't all bad.

So do you guys associate with any people from the middle east?

Some are good, some are bad.

My wife and her family. A kid I knew back in Iraq I correspond with from time to time. Various Marines I still associate with. I know quite a few as it turns out.
9 out of 10 people agree that in a room full of 10 people one person will always disagree with the other 9.

All of the ones that I've associated with are all really nice, in all honesty.

I've lived in a few middle eastern countries.

Kuwaiti's are pretty cool, and fairly moderate.

Iraqi's are a mixed bag. Sunnis are a pain, while shia's are tolerable.

    Qataris are pains as well.

Really comes down to whether they have money of not. The richer they are the more moderate typically.

I don't know anyone from Middle-East, unless people here running pizzerias are from there. Possibly, but I can't be sure.

Quick edit: I remember two now. A doctor who treated my eye injury, and someone from Qatar I met in game. Both very nice, especially the doctor

I don't know any muslims or people from the middle east myself.

I want to believe I am not a racist, but unfortunately it's getting hard to -not- somewhat judge Muslims/middle east. It's not like i've raised my pitchfork, but it's at the point where I wish we completely stopped the border and quickly just sent out all that isn't currently in any danger/injured. Sorry to say.

Two very good friends of mine, who are brothers, grew up in Pakistan and moved to the states when there were 11 and 9 I think. I have known them since we were in high school. They are terrific people their parents are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Even after all of them being treated like shit after 9/11 they continue to be amazing people. The world has been ugly to them and they return kindness.

Not atm, have in the past. They're the same as the rest of us. The majority wants to live in peace, the 1% don't, and the 99% are lumped in along with those wacks.

My next door neighbors are from the Middle East. The husband is from Saudi Arabia and the wife is from Tunisia. He came here when he was 16 because he hated life in SA and loved how we lived here. She met him while on vacation, they hit it off and she moved from Tunisia to here and loves it. They are the sweetest people I've ever met. Yesterday she comes out into the backyard with a leather cowboy hat on. I giggled and asked her what's with the hat. She says, "We just got back from Texas... Dallas. I LOVE it there! It's so... American and I love it! There was so much to do, the men were big and just what you picture from Texas. I want to move there now lol." They don't wear the traditional clothing and they love our culture and adopted it as their own. He even said his trips home are only because of guilt now not because he loves going home and every time he lands back here from that plane he takes a deep breath and says, "I'm home."

    Yeah several.

All of them live their religion differently. The most hardcore one.... doesn't drink alcohol. That's it. The only thing they have in common is the thought that religion is meant to enrich your life, not dictate it. Never met a stereotypcial media hardcore kill all heretics type of muslim.

As for middle eastern refugees, I met a large group in the local mall few months ago. I was looking for Couscous (great for bodybuilding, nice alternative to rice or noodles) but much to my surprise the entire shelve was empty. I've never seen anyone apart from me buy it in all these years.

Turns out the refugees took all of it because it was one of the few things they recognised from their home country. One of them saw me standing in front of the empty shelve and offered me some packs in broken english. Made a really nice impression.

I think we're lucky here in the U.S. that we get to be picky.

Theres not much Muslims in my town in Northern Ireland, so no, not at all.

In fact I would openly try to avoid people that have religion visible on their clothing or other body parts. May as well just scream "i'm a bigot, stay away from me"

and yes I see the irony there, that i'm a bigot against bigots.

Where do you live? You're pretty unlikely to find hardcore religious anything in the western world unless you go to select areas like Birmingham in the UK.

Except having a cross or star of David around your neck or really any hint of religion doesn't make that person a bigot. So you are just a person that makes unfounded assumptions and a bigot as a result.

We have one guy from Pakistan if that counts, he's H1B which means he has a work visa.
