    Draenei Presence in Cataclysm

I am very curious as to how the Draenei expand and spread out across Azeroth in Cataclysm. Do any of you know if they will have set up new settlements/settled into older ones? And what has happened to Forest Song? Judging by the Warsong expansion into Ashenvale it doesn't look good for the makeshift town, but you never know for sure. I am aware that there are considerably less draenei than most, if not all other playable races lore wise, but I still think they deserve to see the world beyond that damn space ship of theirs.

I think the only change for the Draenei so far is that their town in Swamp of Sorrows is built up a little more.

    Yup.

They pretty much haven't spread out at all.

There are quite a few Broken in the Earthen Ring, but other than that their presence is still minimal at best.

It'd be nice to see a new settlement that isn't already in game such was Nightsong or the Sanctuary. Every race but the gnomes have so far been given new settlements.

Although I won't experience Alliance content until I level a worgen or night elf mage, I'd like to see the draenei get either Nightsong or the Sanctuary expanded upon, or a new questing settlement completely. Even the blood elves have new camps.

Yeap, the draenei counterpart, the belves, have gotten a very nice place in this expansion, now they are the Explorer's league Horde counterpart, wich will ensure their presence in cata. But the draenei? nope, besides SoW, they got nothing, not even in forest song, its kind of sad.

And now with the worgen, the draenei lost they nelven BFFs, so sad. And I don't really see the draenei hanging out with humans, unless the two races formed a new paladin order, or the draenei decided to reforce the human lands since all of the other races are busy elsewhere.

I have to admit I was noting some of the youtube videos and I have to admit while the BE's get alot of new content the Draenei is somewhat... lacking.

You'd think they might at least get something towards a shrine dedicated to the Naaru maybe or some kind of excavation sight since they share Dwarven Curiousity that way.

    Merh, just food for thought.

It just seems like an example of Blizzard emphasizing what they want to emphasize.
We always have to make a balance between what we'd love to do and what is realistic to do. Because of this, Stormwind is currently where our focus has been, so far, for the version of Cataclysm you're currently accessing. It is however relatively easy to access the other cities via the standard transport methods, should you prefer to do so. Also at least for now, you can still have your hearthstone in Dalaran or Shattrath which allows you swift access to all Alliance capital cities.
    From Wryxian (on bluetracker)

It really seems that, aside from Orgrimmar, Stormwind, and perhaps Undercity, the rest of the major cities will receive less-than-Cataclysmic change. It's not like there's a trend of empty promises, but the "balance between what we'd love to do and what is realistic to do" is becoming more and more visible.

I don't think anyone here has said anything about changing the Exodar, but to give draenei more settlements and outposts or similiar, which they have given to more races than the orcs, humans and undead.

True, but I was trying to give an example of how that awkward "balance between what we'd love to do and what is realistic to do" like I mentioned shows itself in the disappointing scarcity of draenei influence/architecture in Azeroth.

So you're suckered in by Blizz's method of shadowing favoritism.

Horde get tons of shit this expansion, over 75% of all new cities are Horde controlled, and Alliance have lost almost 3x as many cities so far. Who the hell expects Draenei to get anything new.

It is a known fact Blizzard likes the Horde more. I may be Alliance but in more or less every convention you go to they mention how the Horde is better.

Its not entirley personal bias but one can consider it truth considering the Vanillia changes between loladins and shamans of whom the latter were clearly the favoured.

I highly doubt Blizzard favors the Horde.

As far as I can tell, the problem is that as a race the Draenei are rather disconnected with most of Azeroth. The whole theme of Cataclysm is "retro": archeology, old gods, and a dragon aspect that's been chilling for a few millennia. Since the Draenei don't really have a history here and no vested interest beyond just generically fighting for the good it's hard to get them to really care. If we ever get another expansion involving Outlands or the Burning Legion I'm sure we'll have more Draenei than we know what to do with, but until then they're just renting a few islands.

Draenei are the best race in the game. End. Of. Discussion.

I heard the grass is always greener over there.

    Also /agree

the reason why it appears as if cata is horde favored is because a vast majority of the beta testers are horde players. or atleast the majority of those making videos/blogs are horde players.

This is probably the most likely explanation.

Even so, I hope there will be plenty of Draenei scattered about among the Alliance and Earthen Ring even if they don't have any of their real forces in play. A Shaman helping out the Earthen Ring here, a Vindicator smashing some Black Dragons there, that sort of thing.
Roleplaying, hardcore Raiding, running LFR on the occasional weekend, PvPing, rolling alts, achievement hunting, pet battling, or just enacting an endless series of whims, I don't care how you play WoW. Just as long as you have fun doing it.

    HEY.

Before it gets out of hand. Don't bring the Horde into this in that "Blizz loves horde" way. There's already a thread regarding the subject and even if I agree it doesn't belong here because it will just derail the thread.

Anyway, yeah I'd love too see more draenei stuff.. In a BC interview metzen and the gang sounded excited about adding them in calling them "super heroes" and yet even since BC i've been left wondering if my favorite race was simply a filler. Personally I say give the draenei a huge tower.

Or even some form of story arc.. bring em down to earth a little and have the Horde attack the exodar or some town or something so we atleast feel like they're a part of what's going on.

Edit: oh wow this isn't even my forum.. I guess my mod sense was tingling.
