Yes, used to be quite easy really when the leveling areas were busier. Always a lively discussion in general chat for the area with people trading duplicate pages for other people's pages to get the quest complete.

Nowadays I don't bother though.

I'd agree to just buy them. They usually only cost about 5-10g off a regular AH for all of them. First thing I do when I get to Stranglethorn is pick up those quests, and buy the pages to ding 31 making the lvling sequence 30-42 easier.


But this is going to be cataclysm so I wouldn't know if it gives the same exp.

On the beta you only need one page, which dropped from the first mob I killed after picking up the Q. After that you finish the good ol' killing quests and you've got the achievement.

they changed it so you only have to take one page to him. presumably that is now what counts towards the achievement.

I did it on my rogue to get Olmann Sewar because it was such a high dps weapon that could be reasonably attained at the time. That was maybe 3-4 days after launch and we had three people combining efforts to complete the quest.

Yes. Biggest difference though is that you are able to complete it with just one page which apparently amounts to the entire book. When I got the quest in the beta I walked about 20 feet, killed a tiger, grabbed a page and finished the quest plus got the achievement. Surprised the heck out of me. Whether that's just a special beta thing and whether the live version of the quest will be the same remains to be seen.

Yeah, I've done the shredder quest several times. In fact I just finished it on one of my alts yesterday

I always get the quest as soon as I get to Splintertree Post because I'm going to be killing a lot of mobs in Ashenvale anyway so might as well. The only big frustration is when you've done all the Ashenvale quests and you have 5 copies of page 9 and 0 copies of the only page you still need. That's when you either farm the last page (which never drops), hit the AH, or see if your bank alt has any of the pages still cluttering up his guild vault.

I did it once, at L80 for "Loremaster" and "Hemet Nesingwary, the collected quests", half dropped when doing quests, bought the rest off booty bay AH for 10S to 25S each, but at proper level? no thanks >_<

At least the new version looks to be less of a pain...

It is, however it's reduced to 1 page and it's drop rate has been greatly improved.
