Extremely low gem prices on certain servers

Any other server have this annoying problem as shown in the pic? Gem prices gone completely low, where most of the gems is more expensive than then uncut one. Everyday has been like this so time isn't a factor here. Other servers I checked have such a good gem economy, where uncut ones are always the less expensive, green/yellow cut gems going above 40g, purple ones going above 80g, etc.

Is this the work of the chinese gold farming guys? How can you counter such a thing and make a profit (other than lolchangeserveandwaste25$).

There is one person on my server whose completely ruined the gem market in just under a week. Delicate inferno rubies were going for about 175g, and up to 250g on a good day, but now the price is about 80-90g all because of one jerk. He is undercutting everyone by insanely stupid ammounts, and listing items in bulk. Delicate inferno going for 185? Too much for him. He lists about 10+ all at 111g each, and then if someone undercuts him by even a copper, he removes every gem, and undercuts that person, and repeats this until about 2am server, and then we finally can post gems without him undercutting until about 7-10am server. But by that time, the damage is done, and the prices ruined.

Imo, blizzard should ban people like him who ruin not one, not two, but three gem markets. Hes done this to delicate, brilliant, and bold inferno, and is also starting to corrupt the uncut prices as well.

The reason prices are good on some servers and bad on others has little to do with gold farmers really.

My server for example, has crap gem prices. They are pretty much all low all the time, but it's not because of the gold farmers. It's because it is a high population server with great progression. At this point in the expansion, everyone is geared. No new gear means no need for new gems. So they build up on the AH and everyone undercuts them to death. And being a high pop server, there are tons of people around to undercut the prices.

As I'm sure you can imagine, when we get 4.2 and the next tier of gear, prices will rise once again as everyone progresses and gets new gear. This is just the way it works.

I would kill for those gem prices. Obviously I don't sell. But on my server all gems are still going for 150+ with red gems going for 200.

I quite happily admit that in the Inscription market I often undercut most people on my server - they are selling Glyphs (even lvl 25 ones) for 80g-90g, the WotLK usable glyphs at 300g-400g and I usually sell my glyphs for around 10g-15g - why? So people can use them. I grind the mats when helping others out around Azeroth or when boosting in dungeons with herbs in. Do I get random abusive messages from people selling them so high? Yes, but I just shrug them off. If you get wound up about not being able to sell virtual goods in a virtual world just deal with it, life could be a lot lot worse.

    Lol....ban them for what, exactly?

Nothing they are doing is against the ToS.

At the end of the day, it's the law of supply and demand. If people are selling stuff for what TRULY is too cheap, buy it up and re-list it for more.

Most of the time, imo what crafters are really getting annoyed about is the fact that in a low-demand market (glyphs, gems until 4.2, etc.) there sometimes exists a sort of unofficial agreement between the crafters in that market to not sell items below X gold, with nobody undercutting by more than a very slight amount to keep prices fairly high even though demand is low. Things then become a game of who undercut who the most recently, so when a buyer does occasionally come along they buy from whoever posted their stuff last. Then....along comes a guy who really doesn't care to play the constant undercut game, and he posts his stuff for far less than the "normal" price. To everybody who isn't a crafter in that market, he's a hero. He drives out a lot of the crafters, since even if they play the undercut game the profit margin is shot...and for them to play the buy/re-list game isn't viable because the supply actually >> the demand.

    My 2 cents.

People may have got all the gear they need from the new heroics so they don't need gems anymore. In turn the gems just keep getting undercut but not sold. I guess people just really like to undercut by big amounts on your server.

its like that on kel'thuzad which is why i dont fuck with jcing for gold(lol 10-20g profit margin on blue gems) and enchanting mats r pretty cheap too so its not worth the time to disenchant rings.

In soviet russia.. gem cut you

It is a population thing. My main server has gem prices in the tank since there are so many suppliers although you can still make a decent income if you farm all the ore. I also play on another server where prices are through the roof in both the gem and glyph market so I'm leveling alts to get into the mix. At the end of the day it is about making gold and farming the ore takes more time but maximizes profit, especially since not many people are farming at this point in the xpack.

thats the price I have on my server

cant really do anything about the amberjewel, ocean , dream emerald market , I dont even waste my time on those cut

Lets hope that blizzard will add more socket to item and put new epic jewel on the market

To help fix the non red gem prices, they should make socket bonuses awesome, so that getting the socket bonus on something that has 2 blue gem sockets worth gemming for even on a piece of melee dps gear.

I think the problem is with the new CTA bag and people who dont normally have anything to do with the gem market are getting gems, undercutting the crap out of regular sellers because they dont care about the price and the people who do sell gems don't see it for what it is and undercuts them making that the new price. Unless gems stop dropping i dont see a way to fix this.

Bad for a minority, good for everyone else. I don't care if you make less money from JC, because it costs me less to gem up.

Nomal prices bro. Nobody wants haste+parry gems. Casters dont even want straight haste gems. The only thing anybody wants it Strength, Intellect or Agility. And their are not enough tanks to keep demand up for tank gems, and tanks are not stacking straight stamina like in wotlk. Now its mastery for DK's, dodge for bear tanks (i think), and stam+mastery and all that stuff.

Some healers want spirit like resto druids and shamans but I doubt they want to gem for all spirit.

PLUS throw in the fact that JC is the most popular profession out their.

Think it's bad now? Wait til 4.2, when cut gems will stack, so you can sell in bulk!

This more sounds like ppl like you are inflating the prices, and the other guy is offering stuff for a more fair price.

I know where I'd prefer the ban hammer if I had to pick
