I try to avoid it on non beacon targets, but if it's just a tankheal boss i use it on the tank when it's needed.

Divine Light should be your most used spell.

Healing has changed from WOTLK.
You aren't spamming Holy Light like you were.

Damage on the Firelands bosses is higher, but less frequently.
The tanks health will drop more but not as often.
So use Divine Light to top them back off, then switch back to Holy Light for periods of smaller damage.

If you Judge often you should not have a problem with mana.
If you don't Judge every 8-10 seconds you will go OOM fast.
Know when using Divine Plea is a good idea.
Log some boss attempts and read the strategies, and be sure to have a /cancelaura macro for Plea.

Since I've started doing this my numbers have gone way up and more importantly, I've become a MUCH better Holy Paladin.

Well at least you are smart enough to do research and ask around to improve yourself.
I myself was still healing in the WOTLK style until a couple weeks ago.

Is that so once I have a certain gear-level? I have 360 atm and healing Firelands 10 with a Tree and Disc together, I am just not getting enough Mana to almost solely use DL
Or do I think right that I should have the Tank I am healing have the Beacon so I get lots of extra HP to more often use LoD and WoG while doing DL and Judge to conserve Mana?

I've no idea why people are spamming Divine Light. I use Holy Light, Word of Glory & Holy Shock far more then Divine Light, I only really cast it when there is large predictable damage, or I get the "Infusion of Light" proc.

Never had a problem healing, deaths / wipes are rare.

Quick Edit: I know this is more Wrath style healing, but I just haven't found the need to spam Divine Light at ANY time in ANY encounter. Holy Light along with a 3 Stack Word of Glory / Holy Shocks, combined with my healing peers is MORE then enough, and I am always topping the meters, at around 13 - 15K HPS.

You use it when Holy Light, Holy Shock, and Word of Glory aren't fast or big enough to keep your tank (or raid) at a comfortable level of health. Happens pretty often in Firelands.

Actually, Thornar, your healing style is more what Cataclysm healing is supposed to be. It was supposed to be more about a healer having a nice toolkit for healing, and the challenge was being able to manage your mana while choosing the right tool (i.e. spell) for whatever your current need was.

However, it appears that theory once again does not meet practice, and we're able to gear up and spam our biggest heal for extended periods of time.

Not to Hijack or anything, but I am now raiding in FL as a Holy Paladin. Sitting at 2800 Spirit with the DMC:T at max. So you are saying that if I hi judgement on CD and use DP when I can, I should be able to spam DL all the time?

I may need more spirit.

Define "spam". No you can't chain cast it nonstop, but yes it should normally make up a much larger portion of your healing than anything else. The only things that might beat it depending on fight and style are Beacon and HR. We use it all the time as in we use it when there's real damage to be healed, the raid is fine and tanks are being tickled then obviously you can make do with HL only.

You can chain DL for a period of time. You just pick your spots.
