Golden Time is a romance Comedy so off the top of my head I would say Toradora it is Romance/Comedy/Slice of Life and it's really good. I mean you state you like Drama comedy what about the Romance part? If so watch Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo I just finished watching this one and really liked it. Hyouka is also really good. I personally have been on a RomCom/slice of life kick this past week or so and if that interests you I can make recs based on that. I like shows that make you feel something. Looking at your list I have never seen Hajime no Ippo the whole boxing thing seems lame to me but for a Sports romcom you can try Suzuka it is kinda similar to Golden time.

Altough the characters don't grab me as much as the ones in Tales did the theme is exactly what I requested, so kudos to your recommendation. Currently at episode 5 and I am enjoying watching it.

Before I start I'd like to point out that I know this is a vague description. I can't even remember whether what I saw was anime or a LN series. (maybe both) I'm wondering if anyone knows of any anime about an assassin refusing to kill anymore.

a young teen boy who falls in love or befriends a cyborg girl who destroys the city. There was also a character with very long black hair who was an assassin maybe, and a
soldier boy with a cyborg arm. Thanks in advance.
That sound awfully similar to that anime movie "Metropolis".

It's a long shot, but Angel Heart?

I don't think that was it. I've been thinking about this all day and I think it was something along the lines of this girl appearing in this guy's apartment claiming to be a retired assassin. People are after her and she drags the guy into it, and I believe he ends up having to fight because she's reluctant to start killing again.

I haven't watched it, but maybe Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom?

    Ah I found it.

    Apparently it's a novel series.

That is pretty typical for most of the really popular anime series they start off as a Light Novel and if popular enough they get a manga as well. Most of the really popular current series all have this. I prefer to read the LN's myself as it is the original source and if I really enjoy it I will follow up with the Manga.

I prefer novels as well. Need to learn Japanese though because there are some series that are getting little or no translator love anymore.

Yeah I myself have been working on that as well. I would like to try and help translate some LN's I figure that will give me some practice in general.

So I have watched most of the non anime shows on Netflix I plan to. And am now looking to get into some anime shows.

I haven't watched very many, but I will give you some thoughts on those I have so to make giving out advise easier. I really liked Death Note, and have watched it more then once. Started to watch one piece with a friend and just couldn't get into it I also watched High School of the dead or whatever which was just ridiculous. I liked DBZ, Digimon, and Yugioh when I was younger although I don't know how I would feel about them now.

I would assume I would prefer more thriller then all out ridiculous action oriented shows, and I like the more "real" looking of say death note vs one piece. I don't like subbed shows, so would only like dubbed suggestions and really only want to focus on stuff on Netflix for now.

(Sorry for anyone who took their time to give suggestions in the threat I made before I found out about this one, I did note the ones that people actually gave thought into though and are looking through them now)

Netflix has arguably one of the best shows on it, you have to go through settings to change it from sub to dub though.

If you liked Death Note, I'd highly recommend ''Code Geass''. It's basically Death Note, with mech suits (whatever they're called).

Edit: No idea if it's on Netflix or not, I don't have Netflix. It's popular enough it should be, though.

I have heard good things about this, and its nice to hear about the dubbing. I notice there are 2 other fullmetal shows on Netflix, are either necessary to watch before, or anything like that?

It is not. unfortunately Netflix doesn't get shows based only on popularity.

Well around the time death note aired, many I know who liked it also liked code geass and monsters. As some other said in the thread I can see why one would like psycho pass. There there is also lots of gateway animes but which is not really classified to be great and prbly no point starting now unless you pretty young, like naruto, bleach and such which many just was just growing up with.

    But things I personally recommends.
Any thing with type-moon and ufotable = kara no kyoukai movies, fate/zero, fate/stay night unlimited blade works. Everything is just awesome and if the action/story dont interests one its always eyecandy.
    Steins;gate = time travel thingy.
Usagi drop = Middle age man adopts his grandfather 6 year old child, heart warming story father-daughter relationship thingy.
Tengan toppan gurran lagann and kill la kill = just awesome over the top actions with interesting art and animations.
Gintama= its prbly an anime to wait with just to get more references and such. but for me its my favorite comedy show ever. Maybe a bit slow in the beginning just because they is presenting the cast member like the first 20-30 episodes.
Baccano and Durarara = not sure how to explain them, but they have interesting perspective jumping between lots of characters.

Already rambled to much some great comedies: Great Teacher Onizuka, Arakawa Under the Bridge, Seitokai Yakuindomo, Working!, Nichijou, Bakemonogatari and every other gatari series.
Some action oriented ones: Shingeki no Kyojin, Samurai Champloo, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom.
Romcom/tearjerkers: Clannad, AnoHana, Kokoro Connect, Toradora, Bokurano.
Horror/gore: Elfen lied, Hellsing ultimate, Mnemosyne, Higurashi.
Adventure thingy: Kemono no Souja Erin.

I'm not even into boxing and Hajime no Ippo is one of my favorite animes of all time. I have watched all sequels and every single one of them is highly regarded.

I guess I should ask then since people aren't giving titles only on netflix is there a place to watch all this stuff in high quality for free then?

Well, I get it from...other sources... so I can't help you there. If you're interested, PM me.

Well, I don't see much in the way of explanation as to why you like what you like, but I very much recommend Steins;Gate. It's my favorite anime of all time. However, there's a rather big caveat that it takes a while to actually ''start''; the first 8 episodes of 24 or so are kinda just slow and character development and stuff. But! If you can get through that (and even then, I'd give the start an 8/10, while the rest is 10/10), then it's pure gold.

I'm not sure if you're interested or not, but I preferred the Visual Novel over the anime, but both are good.
