You claim to be too busy to raid (even though Highmaul is relatively quick) but have enough time to do the one boss you need
Awfully convenient for you.

We always give permission to join in such situation you stated.
I said this to someone earlier:
The first thing I did was actually go back to work for a while Not being invited to Imperator really isn't a big deal, my gear is more than enough for any of these encounters on Mythic, the thread is more about me and whether it was wrong of me to make that request or not, and as we've seen here people agree, people disagree, and people aren't sure. The view of the two officers that declined my request would obviously be skewed; this was a good way to get various peoples' opinions on it.
If the raid was completely full then it's a bit of a kick in the teeth for the person you'd be replacing to sit through 6 bosses to get benched for someone who hasn't helped get to Imperator. If the raid wasn't full then there's no reason to not take you. Unless you were expecting them to 9 man the first 6 bosses or something.
Join a different guild. My guild would be asking its raiders this question. Not the other way around.
And how is it not fair to use a seal on a boss you have on farm in an alt raid with your main? You people are drunk, sign off this forum.
Well, if this is the case than I hope you at least did some work on your project (otherwise this would be massive waste of time).
The request was fine. By whatever standard making a simple request is never wrong.
Demanding your request to be fulfilled at any cost (like we see on this forum every day at least 3 times) is almost certainly wrong every given time.
So, no, you were right to request it and they had every right to turn it down. Neither side was "more right/wrong"
The only really wong move i see is this tread...
The only reason why we think the answer to this question falls into a grey area, is because we simply don't have enough information to tell you who (if anyone), is actually in the wrong. Are you wrong to ask if it's okay to come in on a single boss you need for loot? Maybe. It would be silly of you to walk away from this thread with some sense of conclusion based on what was said here without giving us all the facts.
Why are you trying to take your main to an alt run in the first place, did you already miss your main raid for the week? Is alt raiding mandatory for your guild? What were the expectations for the raid, is this a full alt run, or are mains being worked in for loot funneling?
Why are you waiting until raid time to complete a coding project that is clearly important to you? Did you make any effort to talk to an officer in private about this situation before raid time? Personally, I think you're being selfish in thinking that it's unreasonable to be denied access to a final boss in an alt run when your main could help make the entire run smoother and faster for the rest of team. I'm sure the rest of your raiders have real life obligations too, but they can take the time to set aside a couple hours to raid, why can't you?
There has to be a reason why they think you're lying to them. Are you new to the guild? You say attendance hasn't been an issue, so do you have a history of personality conflicts with others in the guild?
If you can take the time to answer these questions honestly for yourself, you should be able to come to a reasonable conclusion on your own. I think people in this thread are getting hung up on the idea that your guild should bend over backwards to suit your personal needs, rather than the needs of the entire raid team, when it's clear you're the one with the time management issue.
You are without question wrong, but its very subjective.

If you're busy than just don't go...Unless you signed a contract saying you have to be there, than don't go. Saying you'll come in at the last boss, but saying you're busy is not really showing that you're busy...
We had someone in our guild who would always show up for one boss half way through the raid because they wanted a trinket, each time it didn't drop they'd say something came up and had to bail, it became an obvious pattern.
Real life > WoW. Don't make it an obligation.
"Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man."
Welllllll if it were me I'd say that they aren't interested in downing content then, but I always find myself in the core of a raid because of my dependability, dedication, want for guild success and no bullshit attitude, so it's not something i've had to deal with
so again, if it were me, i would say your guild is full of douche nozzles but i think that a very important fact here is that you and i are two different people
I would think that should want to gear up a main Mythic raider. I can only see this being an issue if it was a 30m raid and you were going to take someones spot. Otherwise, I can't see why it would be an issue if you were just going to "coin" the item. Weirdness.
