Patch 4.3 now available on the Background Downloader

For all those that thinks ur downloading 15 gig, u aint Thats what the current client is on The update isnt included in that But, if u are seeing the bar and it says u are, its bugged and u have to restart client

Remember folks: The Patch won't be dropping til they announce the end of the PvP Season with a 1-2 week warning. So you know when to worry and wait for it to come.

i only downloaded 200 mb, not the 850 like the mini-guide says...

It's sad when MMO-champion has to calm its puppies to calm down.

edit: Wake up, it doesn't even know everything. Last time it went off twice or thrice.

How do you mean? Are you unable to locate the BackgroundDownloader.exe file, or it won't run...? Usually, all you need to do is just double-click it (or right-click and choose "Run as Admin" if needed) and it should run normally.

I was up-to-date on my copy and I watched the downloader info nearly the entire time (yeah, you can tell I was bored). Final result after it completed was 805mb. So, I have no idea why you wound up with only 200mb...

It's been four months and a week since 4.2 dropped, about the length of the Ulduar patch, which was far too short for what Ulduar offered. This one's ready to go, though.

Expect it to be the very end of November / very Beginning of December... they need to compete with the December game releases so timing will be everything. In the end its up to Blizzard marketing when they best feel on releasing it. Anyone who thinks 4.3 will come out when it's "finished" is delusional.. they have had a release date set in stone for months. It will be released on that date.

They tend to avoid holiday releases so I bet it'll come out after Thanksgiving Vacation. Or the week before it....doubtful but I'd like that so I can do the 5 mans with my friends during the vacation.

noticed my backround dowloader before I checked on here, I say its a major step forward, still doesnt mean anything, but a step is a step, a nice step =)

Right click -> save as or copy the link into your favourite downloader program. Then put in folders stated.

Then delete wow.mfil , wow.tfil and the launcher.wtf file in the WTF folder. Then open from the launcher and wait till it says World of Warcraft is up to date

I'll just wait until the launcher actually downloads itself. Well anyway does anyone know on when the 4.4 one comes out as well?

This is actually not bad. The highest end raiders might be bored farming this, but for the rest of us we've got some time to finish farming out the whorish loot tables and get alts through. Maybe even tell my lazy guildies to start studying PTR fights. :S

< 6 months for a tier of content with possibly the most difficult pre-nerf boss fight is pretty fast. We sat on LK for so much longer. I don't really understand why the people are complaining. You said you didn't want to raid 4 different versions of the same raid every week (10 N/HM, 25 N/HM), so they squashed it. Then 2 was too many (10/25) and the content was too slow. Now there's one, content's moving faster... still upset?

What I would like to understand is why I had a 15.3Gb download?

This is a huge content patch! Probably on par with a bluray DVD with all the crappy extras.

Is there anyway to reduce the size of your WOW folder? Mine is currently at 33.8GB? Can we delete previous patches?

Started downloading, it said it had finished after like 2 mins of downloading, but nooo, it overloaded my internet.

EDIT: It stopped downloading, but I don't see anything.

Blizzard's patching servers are geo-located caching CDN servers. Which means they will technically resolve to a different physical host based on where you are in the world.

So your local Blizzard CDN server probably hasn't had it propagated to it yet.

If you're wanting to "reset" the manifest lists of what you need to download do this :

1) Quit all Blizzard programs (Background downloader , launcher , wow etc etc etc)

2) Using a command prompt flush your DNS cache. This will vary depend on which OS you are on but with windows I think it's ipconfig /flushdns

This will ensure that if the IP address for the patching server has changed it will give you a new IP address for the patching server.

3) Go in your wow folder and delete wow.mfil , wow.tfil and the launcher.wtf file in the WTF folder.

This step will reset the manifest lists , how much of a patch you've downloaded as well as the torrent information it uses to download patches.

4) Open the Launcher , go into the Downloader Preferences and Turn on "Download while playing World of Warcraft" and "Don't thottle background download"

While you're doing this the Launcher will be contacting the patching server and grabbing relevant information about what to download.

5) Wait at the launcher until you see "Downloading data for the next patch"

If you don't see all this don't stress out. It may not of propagated to your part of the world yet and there's not much you can do if that is true.
