Slightly off topic but what was that about the previous AL governor marrying his first cousin?

The pedophilia accusations are still not proven in a court of law, but anyone with a fraction of a functioning brain sees all of the evidence, that's far more than just the year book, the testimonials from everyone, and his past behavior, pretty much lends lots of credibility to it.
Moore has directly defied the constitution, and been removed from his position for it. His own actions and words are proof positive of his status as a homophobe and a racist. People can cry about liberal biased media all they want. When your own leaders are their own worst enemies, the media doesn't matter at all. You can't really deny things that these people have confirmed themselves with word and action.
2014 Gamergate: "If you want games without hyper sexualized female characters and representation, then learn to code!"
2023: "What's with all these massively successful games with ugly (realistic) women? How could this have happened?!"
Senate GOP to discuss Moore strategy Wednesday if he wins
Few comments.Senate Republicans are preparing to hold a closed-door caucus meeting on Wednesday to discuss what to do about GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore if he wins the special election in Alabama.
Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), the No. 2 Senate Republican, confirmed that Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has called a closed-door caucus meeting for 10 a.m.
"I think that's part of the discussion, yes," he said, asked by The Hill if Republicans would use the meeting to talk about the outcome of the Alabama special election.
A spokesman for McConnell — asked if Republicans would discuss anything else including their tax bill or government funding strategy during the meeting — declined to comment until after the Alabama Senate race is called.
a) McConnell is a coward. Waiting to say anything until after it's necessary, is cowardice.
b) A meeting behind closed doors = "We don't want the people to know what we're saying". I suggest this means "How can we keep his vote, without specifically refuting the Trumpkin vote that led him here?" Also, "Are we still pretending this is somehow not our fault?"
c) I humbly suggest a strategy: DON'T ENDORSE HIM.
Rape had punishments for fairly long time at this point in most societies - several millennia in some. What was considered rape changed though; required proof between societies varies too (like confession by perpetrator or 4 men witnesses for rape in some Muslim countries).
Genocide... happened last century, happens right now, people on genocidal side whitewash it all the time.
Moore did neither though.
Moore will be elected regardless. As long as the allegations don't have physical proof, Alabamans would rather vote for a accused child molester than a Democrat.
Roy Moore leads by 3 percentage points over Doug Jones with 48 percent of precincts fully reporting.
Alright, someone wake me when he wins. I'm looking forward to objectively holding the high ground until Nov 2018. The RNC endorsed, then funded, a child rapist, and he's about to be voted in. There's a meeting tomorrow to discuss what to do with him, which means the GOP will either try to split with Trump's rabid fanbase by putting Moore in a corner...or accepting him into the fold. Both options are bad, but hey, it's their fault they got this far. Now, some Republicans have specifically and directly broken ranks on this, and those exceptions are a different story. But, since the RNC allowed this by endorsing him, and since the RNC encouraged this with their money, any Republican who doesn't, is assumed to both accept and condone it until further notice.
I don't make the rules. Not sorry this time.

God dammit, one for the road.
Santorum: Moore will face ethics investigation whether Trump 'supports it or not'
Bolded for checks and balances.Former Republican Sen. Rick Santorum (Pa.) said Tuesday he believes the Senate will launch an ethics investigation into Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore (R) if he wins the election even if President Trump doesn’t support it.
“I have no doubt if Roy Moore wins tonight that there will be an ethics investigation,” Santorum said during CNN’s election night coverage.
“Really? Even if the President doesn’t support it?” CNN host Anderson Cooper asked.
“Doesn’t matter whether the President supports it or not, the President isn’t a member of the Senate,” Santorum said. “The President isn’t up for election in 2018, but a bunch of senators are and a bunch of House members are and they’re the ones that are worried about having to wear Roy Moore as an anchor around their neck.”
Santorum later said if Moore wins and an ethics investigation finds evidence of wrongdoing, there will be “tremendous pressure” for him to resign. If Moore refuses, Santorum said, he believes the Senate will expel Moore.
Oh, we've already seen evidence of that.

Look at the subhead, it's literally, "If it was my daughter I would kick his ass, but it's not my daughter so it's alright to vote for him."
It's just more of what appears to be the modern conservative credo: I got mine, so fuck everyone else.
It's depressing as hell, but that's the subtext to comment after comment and argument after argument that I've seen coming from a number of conservatives lately. It's not universal amongst conservatives by any means, and I've seen some pushback, but it's depressingly common in my anecdotal experience : /
