Naming your kids after WoW npcs..

Who cares though? I'd rather have a cool and probably rare name than be another boring Robert or John.

personally I think it'd be best to give the exotic name as a middle name, that way the child can chose to go by that if they prefer but not be stuck with a potentially embarrassing name

Alot of human/undead/nightelf names work well. Most other races has a certain theme to their names that sounds weird irl :P Gnome names are probobly the absolute weirdest :P

I assume there are kids named after thrones characters now so I don't see the issues with wow characters

I'm cool with it. As long as you really like the name and not do it because you like the game. If you think it's a solid name then go for it, I mean Jaina isn't so bad a name. You can always sort of make variations on them to make them better fitting like Sylvanas could be Sylvana or something.

I think it's wrong to choose a certain name just because you love the material it comes from.

i mean it not wrong.. Per say. as long as you pick normal names. As a daycare teacher, i had 2 twins called Jaime and arya.
charcters in wow, atleast from the human and dwarven side have "normal" real names. Jaina is a fine name. Sven, or what have you

Too bad my wife does not like english names or fantasy names. She wants "ordinary" names.
But I do find that some names would really be ok.

1. Jaina
2. Tirion (kid would get beat up for being named after "the imp" instead probably, even though you write it differently)
3. Anduin
4. Arthas (but I guess this is such a well known name that this won't work)
5. Moira
6. Vael (Vaelastrasz, not my own name)

A lot of WoW names are from History/Mythology anyway, or with slight variations.

Uther was the father of King Arthur.
Uther was the Mentor of the future Lich King Arthas etc.

Yeah I totally see that naming your kids "l'Oquisha" or something is totally different.
Dude really? I mean I know what you are saying. But how many people are really named after a song, moviestar or bookcharacter (the bible for instance)?

AND I KID YOU NOT, i asked their father, in jest, something somthing, so, where was your kids named after? and the rat bastard said, oh no where special just kind of came up with them! So a bit more talk, "oh so have you seen GoT" and he said no! I CLAIM BS! BS BS BS!
Also, i am from denmark, so nither jaime nor arya is Any degree of common names, they even pronounce them in the english way

Risky move, if the last couple of years are any indication WoW will be considered an embarrassment of a game by the time those kids are grown up.
