The only digital switch games I own are Smash and AC because I play them too often and I'm too lazy to swap carts that often. Xenoblade won't change this.
I can understand if you're getting the collectors edition but otherwise, I can't see why you wouldn't go digital unless you just have a small memory card.
Only thing you're losing out on is resale value with games published by Nintendo never seeing price cuts, and not everyone puts games they buy up on ebay after they've completed them.
Securing long term access by going physical cause Nintendo might shut down servers is just people being paranoid. There are already emulators for Switch that are at a stage of booting up games, Switch games will remain accessible and playable long after Nintendo shutters things like they did the wii shop channel.
Digital switch games are not tied to individual hardware beyond storage of saves, but accounts. Nintendo's system of setting a new main switch is still awkward if you don't have the original, but the games are not locked down like they used to be.
As for account hacked, don't be stupid and use 2FA.
That's not even mentioning that it's a fairly common trend for games to only have part of their data on the cartridge cause companies don't want to spend on 32gb ones, meaning the eshop is needed anyway to actually play it on the switch itself, and not via emulation.

I get to play it like 15 hours early instead of waiting an extra week
