Transporation... I am a believer in a public free transportation system funded by the state. So complaining about transportation... just seems silly. I mean... transportation is part of the thing that screws working people over due to how expensive it can be.

Using that as an example of why people should be paid less, and not an example of why we need affordable or free transportation paid for by taxes... is you missing the heart of the issue.

If you can't afford housing and food on $15.87 an hour in Mississippi maybe just simplify your lifestyle and stop living beyond your means. People making 15 aren't "well off" by any means, but those sure as hell aren't poverty wages like people that are actually still working are making.

Look, I'm all for progressive taxation and helping the working class right now, and then maybe someday having a generous UBI that allows people a comfortable life style without working, I just don't think now is the time for that. Unemployment should be enough to get by on, not more and not less.

We still need most people to work. Automation isn't there yet. 5-10 years from now, maybe, now no. Especially not when looking at those who are on unemployment right now, that is mostly going to be people in service industries, and those aren't being automated any time soon.

To be clear, I was never making any moral arguments in the first place. And we didn't cheat the system to get unemployment to be clear. I just think its objectively fucking stupid for our society to act like store workers and essential employees are heroes, and then turn around and pay them less than people on unemployment.

Why force a national standard on all states and not just let every state decide how much the minimum wage ought to be xdd

A 15$/h might work for one state but it might be too much for another, or not, but like that sort of stuff should be a state issue not a federal one
