It's not allowed in LFG, you can report that, but blizzard isn't working right now, because of the scandal. In trade, that is what trade is for, selling things. It has been acceptable since Vanilla and it's acceptable in every mmo ever as long as you use ingame currency.
If you want to filter out specific sales you can get the badboy addon.
Why is it more common now? Because of discord communities, 15 years ago you had to either find a guild with a good reputation selling things, or you had to take a chance, discord communities live on trust, the guild doing the carry gets no gold from the community until it's done.

Almost always when I try to find a group I report these. The moment I hit refresh I get just as many new ads. It's ridiculous that this still isn't fixed and I begin to think that Blizz doesn't mind expensive ingame services to accelerate token sells.

Boosting for gold at prices that are only feasible through paying for gold mean the gold is just an intermediary for services paid with real money. Then add that this raises the bar for all players who now have to meet the standards set by boosters and now they're gatekeeping the content accessible only by boosted players or players with hardcore raiding guilds.

Blizzard condones what's for many people a good reason to unsubscribe. I question that business model.

You are absolutely right, didn't spot the RMT trade in there, that is also against the rules and should be reported.

I really see 2 ways this could be improved, I'm sure there are more, but these are the ones I thought of:
1. Make a separate channel for city chat/gear sales/boosts, give players the choice which channels they want to see first time entering a city, make it changeable under the chat tab.
2. Blizzard working with the boosting discords, making sure a single group won't advertise more than once every 10 minutes or whatever time limit is appropriate.

Blizzard should also stop being cheap and hire 2-3 people going through LFG/Trade and banning any boost advertisement in the LFG tool and RMT spam in trade.

Sure, some idiot has gear that you worked for. Be proud of the work you put in for it. They swiped a credit card, and got what they wanted. You worked for it, with blood, sweat, tears, and wipes. At the end of the day, you have the memories and the good times you had earning that stuff. The other person has a receipt.

20 years from now, when both of you are no longer playing WoW. Who's going to look back and smile? The guy who bought his achievements? Or the guy who earned them?

Also the "the journey is meaningful" and "we earned it" crowd lost a lot of credibility when classic released in 2019 and they cheesed their way to 60 and started selling runs.

I literally just looked at the group finder now with no searches and while there were a couple there (which I reported) it wasn't the wall that you're making it out to be. report them and move on
