In the category: Nearly Black Metal... because it's too fucked up to be actual Black Metal:

As the full album showed up in my Youtube suggestions, I figured I might as well give it a listen. In short:
    * One memorable song on a whole album isn't nearly enough
    * It sounds like they discovered Mastodon and Tool, rather than Morbid Angel
    * Despite my low expectations, they managed to still not even get close. Impressively underwhelming album.

They are a bit pop sounding but for the genre that isn't a bad thing really
I may not agree with what you say but I will fight to the death to defend your right to say it.

Ridiculously insane tech death that transcends all forms of tech death wankery:

Yes this is the bassist of Gorguts and Krallice, among others.

Pretty interested to see how the new Zao album will turn out (due to be released 2016). Will include this song from their 2015 EP.

Sounds okay, but I seriously dislike NSBM.

  12. #7112
I've got no problem with NSBM. I don't support them financially, but if I like the music I'm going to listen to it. I'll just ignore the message.

I don't think I'll ever buy an NSBM album or any of their merch

So you wouldn't acknowledge this as a great piece of black metal because it's made by literal neonazis?

To block an entire spectrum of music just because of conflicting ideologies sounds exactly like the type of argument religious people throw about metal. Especially when it comes to extreme metal in which lyrics are mostly irrelevant, a genre in which repulsive and anti-humanistic themes in general are ok but politics are a no-no.

It comes down to personal preference whether you wanna listen to NSBM or not, but quality of music transcends personal beliefs in my opinion. For example, I don't really care about national socialism, but I honestly think Fanisk write some fantastic and creative black metal despite their taboo.

    TL;DR: who cares.

I find the narrow, shallow and repressive view and message of NSBM diametrically opposed to the voice of resistance / opposition and individuality black metal is supposed to represent. It is as laughable and stupid as christian black metal.

//edit: Sidenote - this applies when it becomes a part of the music itself. For all his stupidity Varg Vikernes, for example, never let his music become about NS.

I agree. Some very Mastodony tracks on the album.

Still really like the album, mind.
I'd rather they do what they like than feel shoehorned into making music that sounds like Morbid Angel, a band that haven't been relevant for over a decade.

I'm perfectly fine with them doing what they feel like. But I most enjoyed the band when they were doing their darndest to be heavier than Morbid Angel. The fact that MA haven't been relevant for ages makes it even better to have a band actually deliver on that sound.

    Obligatory melo death.

Gateways was their last album as far as I'm concerned, anything after that is total shit and no album will ever touch Domination.

New Neurosis is good news, hopefully it's more Fun-Fun-Fun-Funeral Doomy than Shoegaze Post Rock type stuff that the members do as side projects.
