Don't lose sight that it was a conservative supreme court that gave us gay marriage. And it's not like you'll find a more conservative judge than Scalia...so...it might not be so bad. If we start losing more of the liberal justices...then it'll probably be time to worry.

According to SSA statistics, an 83 year old woman (e.g. Ginsberg) will on average live to be 91 years, 7 months, which would be September of 2024.

An 80 year old man (Kennedy) would be expected to live to 88 years, 11 months, so June of 2025.

So if Trump gets held to 1 term, we'll probably be able to maintain the status quo. Two terms and we're flirting with trouble.

Honestly, I want to see Trump move on every single one of these policies ASAP. I can already see four years down the line, when he hasn't done any of this crap and starts spewing the same old tired rhetoric of liberal/PC/SJW/whatever holding him back and keeping America from becoming great again. Roe Vs. Wade prevented blanket abortion bans, it was already legal on a state by state basis. Blame the state you live in if it gets banned. State defined marriage is a sham and the problem is the economic incentives that exist (which shouldn't as they are), and even in the worst situation, conversion therapy was simply allowed by the state, not enforced, conversion therapy is really the Boogeyman for gays.

But it isn't inferior. This is a farce. The metrics don't tell the full picture. Americans are significantly LESS healthy on average than a lot of other countries. That alone skews results. We record infant mortality different, poverty matters more in terms of health results. When you look at things like Cancer success rates though, we are extremely good at it. You all are trying to make this a very simplistic argument to push an agenda but the facts don't support it.

Even adjusting with all these metrics it has been proven inferior by a long mile, the cost is not justified we are not getting superior service for that cost. If you are happy paying for a poor billionaire ceo that adds nothing to healthcare then by that metric it is wonderful. Please explain to me why you pay a lot more in the hospital for aspirin, gauze, band aid or any of the things you can get cheap at CVS? I don't know honestly. I think there were some who did that, but I think conservative rural areas had a big turnout, and I think a lot of millenials didn't show up. I think those two things had a bigger impact on him being elected than butt hurt people.

Donald Trump's historic victory on Tuesday has killed any chance of Congress voting on President Barack Obama's signature Asia-Pacific agreement in the lame-duck session that begins next week, say analysts,

"TPP is now in the history dustbin for sure," Gary Hufbauer, a senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics, told POLITICO Pro.

Two other trade initiatives still under negotiation -- the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership and the Trade in Services Agreement -- may also end up on the globalization trash pile, Hufbauer added.

The odds of TPP passage were long even before the election. Still, the Obama administration had hoped to pave the way for a vote in the lame duck session by resolving a number of Republican concerns about the agreement. However, the election of Trump, who strongly opposes the agreement, has dashed those hopes, the analysts said.

"Just like [Obama's Supreme Court nominee] Merrick Garland is never going to get a confirmation hearing, TPP is never going to get an implementing bill," said Scott Miller, a trade policy specialist at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

Alan Wolf, senior counsel at Dentons and chairman of the National Foreign Trade Council, shared that assessment. "Nothing that has the label TPP — or in the near term, the content of TPP — will be put into place by the U.S.," Wolf said.

"The coffin is nearly closed on TPP," Nate Olson, director of the Trade21 project at the Stimson Center, agreed. "There's no viable action in the lame duck" given the results of Tuesday's election.
