He said "they are rapists." That's what the contraction "they're" stands for.
He didn't say any WEREN'T rapists. And he was pretty clear in stating that, all of them rapists or not, he believed the majority of them were violent, drug toting criminals.
Which is something the MSM should be involved in, because that's baseless fearmongering coming from a man who was running for leader of the then-free world.
When Trump says something outright wrong, and in this case, dangerously fearmongering, it should be pointed out. Don't act like they "twisted his words" when that clearly was not the case. If CNN quoted Trump by saying "Trump states illegal Mexican immigrants are rapists" they would be 100% correct in that headline, because that is EXACTLY what he stated.
If Trump meant "some" or "a few" he should have said "some" or "a few." He has the best words after all, doesn't he?
You accuse people of projecting onto Trump what they think he means. I think YOU are guilty of projecting onto Trump what you "don't think he really meant" when what he actually said says otherwise.
“Do not lose time on daily trivialities. Do not dwell on petty detail. For all of these things melt away and drift apart within the obscure traffic of time. Live well and live broadly. You are alive and living now. Now is the envy of all of the dead.” ~ Emily3, World of Tomorrow
Words to live by.
"Are you here illegally?"
"Nope."
"Okay, let me act perfectly legal and shoot you in the head!"
Nice logics!
He said 'they're rapist' and then qualified with 'some of them are good people'. If you understand how words logic and reasoning, the impression this sentence gives is that most of the people in this group are racists and that was exactly his intent. Don't try to blame CNN or any other news media for interpreting thing the way any sane unbiased person would. Quotation is not fake news.

Are we talking about jihadists or the guy from Kansas. I genuinely don't know.

I think we nee to dumb this down further. If I say "I have blue skittles in my hand, and some of them are yellow" what does that look like?
You know what's funny? When people rant and rave about how evil and despicable Hillary was for making her "basket of deplorables" speech and how she demonized and put down all of the Trump supporters, and how she is a terrible and evil person for having made the comment. Yet suddenly, when Trump does the exact same thing, but with even less tact and a bare blip of a "and maybe not a handful of you" comment, it magically means something completely different and Trump really isn't such a bad guy and he really didn't mean what was coming out of his mouth.
The double standards and hypocrisy are legendary.

Sigh, stupidity that lead to tragedy.
I'm also confused as to why the label of "terrorism" matters so much. He is in custody and will get hit with multiple charges for murder and attempted murder. He's done.

I come from a time and a place where I judge people by the content of their character; I don't give a damn if you are tall or short; gay or straight; Jew or Gentile; White, Black, Brown or Green; Conservative or Liberal. -- Note to mods: if you are going to infract me have the decency to post the reason, and expect to hold everyone else to the same standard.
you would be surprised what people ask these days
The interesting thing worth discussing here too is Trumps reaction to the shooting which has been....nothing. If a foreign born citizen had shot 3 Americans he would have tweeted his balls off by now. It's the exact same response he had to the Montreal mosque shooting. Apparently shootings which don't further his agenda aren't worth talking about and yet he complains about the media and their bias.
