Should Red Skull be the main villain in Captain America 3 or Avengers 3?

Way back in 2011, the climax of Captain America: The First Avenger saw Red Skull beamed off Earth by the Tesseract to somewhere in the 9 realms. Since they didn't kill him off, the writers are clearly planning on his return. But what would be more fitting for Red Skull? Should he return for Captain America 3? Or maybe a stronger and more powerful Red Skull returns as the main villain in the Avengers 3? I feel confident in saying he is coming back for one of those films.

With Captain America, his story is more connected with his while also just not being huge enough to be a main villain for Avengers.

If the option HAS to be one of those two, then I'd say Captain America 3. We already know that Avengers 2 is going to be Ultron, and Avengers 3 is going to be Thanos. We don't know anything about Captain 'Murica 3 yet though so that would be the safest bet.

The fact that we're even having this conversation reminds me of the absolutely amazing and wonderful time we live in where these stories are coming to life on the big screen and are widely accepted and enjoyed. I mean for god's sake, we're getting new Godzilla in a few weeks and in August we get Rocket freaking Racoon! I wouldn't have believed this was possible a few years ago and now it's coming at us with a furious vengeance. What a great time to be alive

It's the exact opposite actually. The MCU's only good villain is Loki, they need to introduce some more recurring villains if they truly want this to last until 2028 (which is how far they currently have things planned out.). The fact that the comics has a lot of great villains is irrelevant if the movies waste them all. For all I know Malekith is great in the comics but that didn't stop him from being a generic doomsday villain. Potential recurring villains they need to caitalise on:

Since he was considered for The Avengers, it's not impossible that they'd include him again, assuming Hugo Weaving was up for it.

Yeah, I read the same. I wouldn't hold my breath for his return as Marvel doesn't seem interested in bringing the character back either. Which I'm pretty okay with. I'd expect more Crossbones in Cap 3 over Red Skull.

I'd say Captain America 3.

Given the current arc the MCU is going in, with SUCH a heavy focus on HYDRA and their infiltration of SHIELD, it seems pretty obvious that Red Skull WILL be back at some point and to me Captain America seems the best place to do that.

Thanos is said to be the bad guy in Avengers 3, so out of the two he's is infintely more likely to appear in CA3. Hugo Weaving has stated that he is not interested in reprising the role for now though.

I dont think he'd return as a main villain, but definitely as a major villain probably in Thanos' army.

I'm not so sure if Thanos will be the main villain of Avengers 3. That was assumed because everyone thought that Marvel would only have 3 phases. But now they've planned things up to 2028 and presumably Thanos will be the final showdown.
