quite interesting. The Ambrite Insects looks like a nice scavenger-hunt thingy to me ... and tied to weapon-crafting?!
"perhaps someone could find a way to weaponize it's strength"
... and is there a connection to these?:

When reading through history, Rata Sum is the first Asura home when they left the underground, but... Rata Pten is an ancient ruin of a similar city. Not sure if the name was a recent addition to an older ruin or the original name. The one video theorized that they're Mursaat design and Asura use Mursaat stuff.
So, yeah, it looks like a standard Asura structure, but that may or may not actually involve the Asura.
The object on the right looks like the structure floating in the new trailer. I thought it looked like an inquest version of ratasum, but it could be a million little waypoints attacking us.
EDIT: Now that I look back at the trailer it doesn't seem as big as I thought the first time.

...so shutting down the system would be the only way to prevent invasions? Colour me excited.
(hopes for real travelling becoming more important, mounts (lol, don't say anything) and Asura Portals becoming important finally.)

hmm, can you see this:
BAD WOLF
Hrm. Are you at your job and potentially they have it blocked? Other issues I've seen reported for chrome is that Canadians with Telus have to clear their cookies for imgur and it's a recurring issue. There could obviously be more sources...but maybe that is a good place to start.
BAD WOLF
The giant in Kessex Hills and one in the Harathi Hinterlands are friendly. The hostile champ giants are in Diessa Plateau and, again, the Harathi Hinterlands. The only non-champ giants in the game spawn as a result of an event chain in the Brisban Wildlands.
Boo! Hiss! Take that walk-everywhere/mounts shit back to WoW where it belongs!
I just hope they don't get some 'ZONE X INVADED BY EBIL PLANT MONSTAS WAYPOINTS OFFLINE LOL' event cycle going for a stupid amount of time now as a result. Scarlet Invasions quickly turned into pointless crap that just got in the way of map progression, we don't need more of those.
I was doing some mapping on an alt yesterday and noticed waypoints flickering and humming. Like everywhere O.o
This reminds me of conversations between a Traveler and a Gatekeeper in Rata Sum....
Traveler: Is the gate functioning normally today?
Gatekeeper: All spatial parameters are within approved safety margins.
Traveler: You certainly know how to reassure a traveler.
Traveler: What assurances do I have that I will make it safely to my expected destination?
Gatekeeper (2): If you don’t survive the transit, you’re entitled to a full refund.
Traveler: But… but… oh, fine.
Ooh, vines spotted in Kessex !

to be honest, I really see waypoints / waypoint-hopping as GW2's big flaw. The sense of real travel gets lost entirely.
Hmm I kind of like the idea of waypoints. Just the increasing cost depending on how far away irritates me.
I also saw several flickering waypoints around kessex. Didn't stand still/film where exactly. But I am confident they didn't do that before.
I think waypoints do a great service to the gameplay and design of GW2. It's not designed to be a game where you have to run around, getting pulled into accidental combat just to get to an objective. The idea of quickly being where you want because all of the content is relevant is the basis of the game's design. Similarly they want people available for world events to quickly congregate without the need of tedious travel. Removing waypoints would completely contradict established principles of the game.
BAD WOLF
It would affect the world in GW2 is some waypoints are destroyed. Maybe for this reason the portable waypoints...?
