I thought I was gonna be a pussy the first time someone tried to break in but I grabbed a rolling pin, opened the door before he got it open and started swinging. Fortunately it was just my drunk neighbor mistaking my apartment for his(I live one floor below him). So I guess that's what I would do; Open the door to catch them off guard and club them to death with a rolling pin.
I'd open the door for them and laugh. I've got nothing worth stealing.
Stabby stabby stabby with my big machete.
This has happened to be twice. Once it was a harmless older gentlemen that simply was out of his mind / lost. The second time it was someone entering with the intention of taking property. Both times I handled it the same way. Simply grabbed my rifle and surprised them from cover with the weapon aimed and ready to go. I had zero want to kill either one of them. For one it would have made a mess. Second killing should never be the aim. Should be noted I am ex-military so this situation is something I have faced before. I would recommend for most people just to call the police and hold down the bedroom in safety. Hell I likely would do that now as well. But these both happened when I was younger and more a hot head.
The old man seemed to recover after the surprise. Realized he was in the wrong place and was truly terrified. I called 911 and they took him to the hospital. The next day his family came by and thanked me and all was forgiven on both sides. The second man, the one that wanted to steal from me, also gave up. After the 911 call they took him in. It was his 3rd offense so he went to prison. If I knew that looking back I likely would have just told him to get lost. I didn't really want anything to do with putting someone in prison for many years. Felt kind of bad as odd as that sounds.
...why would you feel bad? If it's his third offense, it would seem he's not willing to change and is highly unlikely to even attempt to if you simply let him go. Him going to prison keeps him from robbing anyone else or possibly escalating from robbery to more violent crimes.
Go grab a gun and shoot them if they're armed or try to attack me.
Call 991, lock the door to my room and shout at them that I called the police.
Burglers normally flee over here as soon as someone spots them.
i don't know, honestly. i don't think i could shoot them, i wouldn't want myself to shoot them.
i'd probably just panic while my mom or brother deals with it, hopefully it'd be my brother, since he's huge.
if i was home alone... well, probably die. or be raped. i imagine if they tried to rape me, i'd just go with it to keep him from hurting me in any other way. no resistance, just attempt to please him however i can.
Shoot the intruder.
I'd probably do something stupid like walk out and check what's going on, but if I could restrain myself from doing that I would just to call 911 and then book it out of there. It's actually quite nice I have a door in my bedroom that leads directly to the outside, so it would be easy. I wouldn't want to hide, my house isn't very big...so they'd probably just find me and use me as a hostage when the police show up, and they'd show up super quick cause I live only 6 blocks away from a police station.
I wouldn't want them to flee...I'd want those sons of bitches to get caught and go to jail so they can't burglarize anyone else.
And then they come to you, murder you and your partner/kids and steal your goods. Police will come 15 min later later and say "Well... He should've defend himself. Okay, get the ambulance and clean that mess."
It looks like an opening to a porn movie... And after reading what you did write I think that you already considered that scenario a few times. Just get a gas or a knife in case of that emergency situation...
