WoW Up to 10 Million Subscribers
This afternoon Blizzard released the subscribers count as of November 13, 2014. This is up 2.6 million from the Q3 2014 call that listed WoW at 7.4 million subscribers.

Warlords of Draenor has sold over 3.3 million copies so far, up from 1.5 million pre-ordered in August.

Garrison Campaign Quests Active
Garrison Campaign quests are now active and the one you get each week appears to be random.

One option you may get is from Khadgar's Servant in your garrison, which sends you to Shadowmoon Valley for a short quest chain that rewards Sargerei Disguise (which is not a Toy).

Easier, I do not pay at all, and move to another MMORPG game with better deals, content, quality. SWTOR for instance.
Still I would be keen to resume playing WoW at lower prices

If I considered another mmorpg to be better in every way, I wouldn't spend any money OR time at all on the one I'm pissing on no matter if it became free. People sure are mysterious in their reasoning.

True - BUT! WOD hasn't been out for 1 month yet so these 10million subscribers are PRE wod numbers, you won't get the WOD numbers until after the first month of WOD. I'd wager 11-12mil.

So very true the big task now will be keeping those subscribers happy which will be no mean feat especially with the "I want it now not yesterday" generation..

I'll throw out a wild statement here and tell you that I expect that number to rise even higher. Overall feedback on the expansion is very positive, and once the lag/queue/garrison problems are smoothed out, I'm expecting more players to come back and see what all the fuss is about.

Today they come once again with PR bullshit saying that the subscribers are up to 10million at the day of the launch, 2.5 months earlier than the next Quarter Submission. just to tell the "ignorant" that this expansion as been a overwhelm success, lets see how many of those 10m actually stay by the end of the december, when the Finalcial quarter closes before releasing the fireworks.
Also there is a LOT of games coming out these months, plus other MMos are getting expansion packs in december, SWTOR for example. Its not easy to keep people nowadays. Remember that until some years ago we were still stuck with the previous generation consoles and most had limited multiplayer options. Games released for consoles nowadays have a ton of multiplayer, some are based just around it.

Impressive, but let's be real, launch numbers are almost meaningless.

Next Q is the important one.

This isn't any time though, this is the release of a new expansion. They had these numbers around the launch of MoP too base on the graph.

Staying at 10 million on the other hand ...

I'm going to guess that the next time we will see the numbers, it will be 9.2 million subs. Taking all bets!

This does not prove that WoW is "back" it only proves that MOP was a steaming pile of doodoo as was said many times by many different people. WoD is definitely better than MoP. I remember Blizzard saying that "they wanted players to be out in the open more" This expansion is probably going to go down as World of Garrisoncraft. Definitely was worth buying and playing but the novelty of garrisons is starting to fall off and it will be up to interesting raid content to keep it going. Lore wise this expansion is a mess, just an effort to tap into "BC was the greatest" feeling. Personally, I feel Wotlk was the best expansion ever made for a variety of reasons. Personally I am glad MOP was a disaster, but it seems people at Blizzard realized you can't make expansions about April Fools' Jokes and be taken seriously.

We all know that numbers climb at the beginning of an expansion, it's not a eureka moment so stop acting as if you're inspiring us all with some great discovery. Now, we are at the same numbers we we were at the beginning of MOP. However, the 10m subs now is more impressive because Blizz has overcome a significantly higher deficit of 1.7 million. Say what you want, that is a success! Sure, it may change but for this moment in time, WOD has done what it needed to do.

MoP had a jump of 900k, WoD had a jump of 3.2 million.

this is how it's going to be from now on.
alot of people just play for a few weeks/months to see the new content and will then stop playing again until the next expansion. this also leads to the server overload on release day... hard to predict which realm will get how many players back.

they'll probably adapt and release even less content patches...

    --------

at least that's how it is for me. after a few expansions i can't get myself motivated to get fully geared for a few raids, only for it to get useless again when the next expansion hits.

but this will still generate alot of money for blizzard.

It has some potential of keeping them, both the questing and zone design are vastly more interesting and entertaining than they were in MoP. I'd say right on par with WoTLK, perhaps even better.

If the beginning raids prove to be on a Karazhan or Ulduar level of enjoyment, WoD will definitely keep them.

I'm actually surprised people didn't see that coming.

People are getting back into the game with the valid hope that THIS time it will be like the good ol' days of BC and WotLK.

But Blizzard should be wary, this is the final test. If they disappoint people with this one they will have trained an entire generation to not fall for it yet again.

After last Sat's maintenance I had totally smooth sailing... until yesterday. No queues, but 7 or 8 disconnects, zoning into a blank garrison, character not found and stuck loading at 90%... all day long. During the day. Hope it's cleared up by today with the realm restart...

I think nearly everyone saw a jump in subscriber numbers coming.

I'd be very surprised if more than a few (who at the time were thought to simply be over optimistic or unrealistic) thought it would be what it appears to be the fastest gain (biggest before that was I believe May to June 2005, with a 1.2 million increase, back when the game saw steady growth) in the 10 year history of WoW.

There was no precedent for an increase this large this quick, and I'd be shocked if anyone really, truly saw it coming.
