Being on live television probably saved his life, too.
Could see the stark fear in his body language as he was handcuffed and escorted away, for obvious reasons.

It really kinda beggars belief when people ask me "why are you so upset about this?"
I dunno, Becky. Why am I upset over being unable to open the news without seeing someone getting lynched, or feeling that calling the police in a black person's vicinity might be setting them up for a death sentence?
If it feels this bad to see all this bullshit and be white, I cannot imagine what it is like to live in this country as a person of colour. The thought depresses me beyond belief.

I, as a non-white person generally avoid overly white areas. Like a 98% white town... yeah no thank you.
When I consider moving often I consider what is the community like and would it even work for me. Often times no... nothing compared to New York metro area. At least very few places do and even here. Going to Long Island or west Chester? Nah... going up to alpine or any northern Bergen county town? Be prepared for profiling.
You seem to have this idea that me saying two wrongs don't make a right means something it doesn't.
Businesses who had no part in this. People who had no part in this shouldnt suffer because of a piece of shits actions.or the people angrily reacting to it.
Imagine if the March on Washington wasn't peaceful and instead burnt shit down. Instead of boycotting the bus stations angry people burnt them and stole stuff.
Both of those events and the people orcastrating it had every reason to be pissed yet they cared enough about the message to fix it instead of getting revenge.
Let's fix the police. Let's work harder to eliminate racism but none of those happen if every time an injustice happens cities burn and innocent people suffer
Girl, I'm white and I avoid overly white areas. Gives me Children of the Corn or Deliverance vibes.
Then again I haven't lived in a city of fewer than a million people, so I think I'm fairly safe from being body snatched by my fellow colonizers.

The women's march? Imagine if that were a riot?
Oh, honey. You're making me wet...

Not really, judging from how America's civil war went, pretty sure it would have resulted in positive change.
See, I rely on history, rather than nonsensical "if I don't resist, my aggressors will suddenly see the light" delusions to make myself feel better and little else.

How so? Information didn't travel as well and it was harder to fact check back then. The narrative could have easily been MLK and his Hooligans sack the capital and the message of equality and rights could have been lost.
You're right now sure how that's relevant but yup

MLK jr was a socialist who was hated in his time, and would still be if he where active today. White Americans hate socialism and they would still blame him for any riot that would happen.
I need to look op some old anti-MLK political cartoons. How little has changed is just amazing.
