Not unreconcilable, just don’t turn the thread into referendums on previous elections and blaming people for not voting Clinton. Not that hard.

Talk about the important stuff and stop trying to rehash a settled election.

Yes, we can't talk about unimportant things, like how to vote to get the outcomes you want, and we SHOULD be talking about the real important things, like the president falling off his bike. We live in a democracy. It's impossible for things related to US politics to not have a voting component to them. Your problem is that you think it's always about previous elections and clinton, not future elections and the rights we were born with and expected to have going into the future that are being terminated. You think the framing is the thing itself, and forgo the substance.

The warning very clearly referred to voting discussion in which people are demanding others don't vote.

Don't further misconstrue a direct request.

I apparently don't know what the words "Don't argue about voting" means then. Because that's what you said. Pretty clear I'm not the only one who read it that way:

"they might call us socialists. :c"
You didn't actually read my post or something because I didn't say anything about younger voters. If a state has a turnout rate lower than 20% for an election, you can safely say that it's not only young people that aren't showing up to vote. I'm also focusing on primary elections for a specific reason. Primary elections are how nominees are chosen. Don't like blue dog conservative Dems? Fucking vote them out by helping progressive/left candidates take their spot in the election. Americans mostly ignore these elections and then spin a yarn about how shit the Democratic party is while Republicans slow fuck us into oblivion for decades. It's a self-imposed misery that I'm sick to death of hearing about.

just because you're filled with such contempt for your fellow humans doesn't mean the rest of us are.. IDK dude, maybe if you clowns actually took the institution of voting as seriously as you love to virtue signal about you would have made a national holiday to go vote. or actually did anything to protect the voting rights act. but who am I kidding, that's excepting the party that exists to manage the capital of the business owning class to do something besides manage the capital of the business owning class...
Get out of my face with this bullshit. If there's ever going to be an actual left in this country it has to be mobilized into existence. I'm not telling you or anyone else to vote for moderate Dems. I'm telling you if you want something other than conservative Dems running the show then people are going to have to get off their asses and do something about it. I swear people like you only see Biden and think the presidency is the beginning and end of American politics. I'm sick of this shit, it's exhausting. I'm going to lose my mind if John Fetterman loses to Dr fucking Oz in PA this year because of useless apathy like yours. Either help us or get the fuck out of the way already.

This was less "influence" and more "implied threat that we'll fuckin' nationalize your industry out of existence of you don't shape the fuck up, you greed-ass shitheads."

Which, don't get me wrong, decades overdue. I think Biden's a pile of moldy socks in a thin suit, but this at least showed a modicum of decency.

I... nah there was no way anyone could take that tweet as anything resembling a threat, and even if it was no one should take it as anything but vapid and hollow. maybe they're doing some backroom deals, could be the reserves they released finally catching up with the market.

so again, why were people making the argument the president couldn't do anything about gas prices? seems a bit... dishonest now?

In which case, how on Earth is it evidence that his tweet actually did anything at all? Because just saying "do it" and nothing else is hardly wielding the power of the office.

The amount of people in the replies taking this as a serious take and not as a joke is quite the pill. Way to many people seem to think this is how public policy and the economy actually work lmao.

Not sure why this still needs to be said but the Bully Pulpit is a fictional concept, Biden could no more use it than he could The Secret or healing crystals. You don't see him using it because there's nothing to see.

Uh... Biden tweeted that on 7/3. The oil price graph only goes to about then; the peak and the start of the decline is back in early June.

So it was obviously in steep decline prior to his tweet.

I don't see how this is proof of any influence on the President's part.

It's not...it's tanking because of the looming recession and how the market contracts as a result of those kinds of speculations, it's literally being reported on.

And while Republicans are doing everything in their power to limit access to health care, Commiefornia is out here getting set up to produce our own insulin and sell it well below market price.

It's nice seeing Democrats do good things, I just wish we'd see more from the Biden administration.

Would love to see CA get into the generics business overall. Epi-pens are stupid expensive too, though at least not as consistently necessary as insulin is for a diabetic.

Had a coworker who was allergic to everything (like...almost literally - nuts, dairy, chocolate, anything from the ocean etc. etc.) who always carried one around and thankfully, even with a ton of work events and parties we managed to avoid attempting to kill him by feeding him a prawn or a peanut or something. Still a big expense, but at least the cost can be mitigated if you're consistently careful about your allergies and avoid getting into a situation where you might need to use it. Like going on a tour of a peanut roasting or chocolate factory or something : |

California is one state I could see seceding from the US and doing better than it ever has been without the dead weight of conservative ideology holding them down and depressing progress. They would need to require proof of residency though to keep all the welfare queens crossing the boarder for access to tax payer subsidized healthcare without actually paying into the system only to return to their home state and complain about socialism.

Would also have to make sure to have a good defense when those states could no longer mooch off their funding and start invading them for access to their money and resources pretending they are going into the middle east.

Would be nice for 21st century states to secede from 19th century ones and actually form a modern country
