I didn't watch the stream myself but I've read enough from this thread. I won't doubt that this was an accident I don't know why anyone would purposely risk their streaming career/rep by purposely showing Illicit content but regardless of that, man up and apologize.

he did right after it happened, he was scrolling through his twitter feed with the # used for the contest, when someone had sent a dick pic in the hashtag and it was up on stream for a split second

And that is a problem why? Promotion of the game, marketing, all add to the playerbase. That's a good thing.



Randomly selecting accounts for beta flagging doesn't guarantee they are reaching interested testers. Getting people into beta who will sit for hours watching streams for small chances at beta access? Pretty much guarantees you people who are excited and motivated to experience and test the game.

I dont; have a problem with any of it... of course... I have beta access so I may be seeing things from a much less salty perspective :P

Which is actually a thing? So I dunno why you used this poor comparison. Bad or faulty food purchased and returned can often cause the store to bring back all of those products to prevent anyone else (worst case) harming themselves.

I don't know what did or did not happen... but I was not impressed with Swifty's "Bounty". I tweeted my image and left.

I liked most of them.. especially Bajheera and Slooty. I liked that they gave some out because they personally liked the images, and did others purely random.

Sparty's was "more work" having you kill various infernals across Azeroth, but each location he specified was another chance to win. Again, my first reaction was.. UGH! But to be honest, running things at at the same time he did with his impromtu raids (never did get in fast enough to be in HIS raid) was fun. I mean I was actually enjoying being a part of the activities.

I am thankful that Blizzard chose this avenue for community fun and chances at BETA, in addition to their random beta wave invites. Yeah they had other motives... but it's a win-win situation... (unless you didn't win.. jk lol)

The expansion is on the foreseeable horizon... and the pre-patch just around the corner. No need for all the extra salt.

yeah, at this point these people getting into beta wont get to do much, with the pre-patch most likely being the 19th with the expansion (pre-patch) download having been put into the launcher...

Starts at 50 mins exactly for those who can't access the time stamp. Person donates $5 with a link to their Twitter post and gets a beta key. I don't care about the contest but shouldn't that be the real outrage?

he liked the picture, do you think he would give a person a key for 5$ when somone later gives him 300$ and they dont get a key? this sounds super weird... or maybe he just liked the picture and gave them a key for that?

The person decided to donate? If you had any slight idea about Swifty you would understand why he chose that picture. I don't even watch the guy and I know that he is obsessed with Felguards and Waterfalls.

This isn't selling keys it's a donation someone decided to donate to get their twitter noticed faster and that's their choice.

The dick is apparently not irrelevant cause people are screaming felony about him accidentally stumbling on the dick pic. If you read the original battlenet forum post the OP was complaining that he was watching the stream with his kid and now he wants Swifty to go to jail. This is an example of "parenting is never the issue" that we have adopted in today's world.

Edit: Not only is he obsessed with felguards, but this was during his community event which Blizzard supported...

... That was just a guy, who forwarded his tweet to him personally. Swifty had a twitter competition about ingame screenshots, so you can't really say, that just because he donated, he got a key. Swifty thought it was funny, so he gave him a beta key, and apperantly, most of the keys was given randomly to people on twitter, who had made funny pics. There is no selling here, just somebody who forwarded his image, who would proberly have won a key anyway.

yep, this is it here, and this is what everyone is saying is the "proof swifty sold keys" even though the screenshot has 2 injokes for swifty, follows the theme as it is felguard, and yeah maybe donating helped him get the key but in no way was swifty "selling keys"

Point of a competition is everyone being able to participate equally. If people get more attention by donating money then the competition is flawed. Simple as that.

Its easy to defend. They guy loves Felgaurds and Waterfalls. The contest rules were that it had to be a picture he liked with the correct hashtag. This picture met all of the stipulations. Right after Swifty is telling people do not put the link to your picture in the donation. He says it over and over again. He has to go through a ton of pictures, the fact that he did one on stream as a good example of what he likes, what he may be looking for isnt all that nefarious.

I mean if you hate Swifty then fine. To say that this disgusts you or that you hate him as a person because of it is just ridiculous. It was a $5 donation for christs sake. Use your fucking brain man...

Use your brain, if he was dumb enough to do one on stream, how many do you think were done on a 2nd monitor off stream. He simply set the stage for people to question the validity of the whole contest. How does anyone know that when they turned off notifications on the stream that they didn't keep doing it. Any of them could have been doing it without anyone's knowledge, the fact swifty did it openly, even once, throws all credibility out the window. Of course there is no legal recourse, but at the very least blizzard should make a public apology for this uncontrolled shit show and distance themselves from the streamers as it has clearly brought a lot of bad press due to fear of this exact issue.

If it's proven to be the case then an example should be set (whatever that example should be to make clear everyone has to follow the same rules).

This event was for all ages. Blizzard was sponsoring this event by giving streamers beta keys. They and Swifty should've been moderating this. Having someone be exposed to pornography is just ..weird, awkward, and most importantly, unintentional when it comes to the reason of having the stream in the first place! seriously, i'd be weirded out as hell and pissed that me and my kid were exposed to someones dick on stream

Except WoW isn't for ALL ages. Minors where still exposed, but to say little kids where exposed then some responsibility is on the parents as the game is intended for 13 and up. I'm not saying that some responsibility doesn't fall on Blizzard, Twitch, & Swifty, but any kid under 13 that was exposed to pornography only has their parents to blame for not monitoring and limiting what those children do on the internet.
