I would really really like people who are calling BS on this news to put forward an argument about why Trump would be expected to have a high level of popularity.

Don't cite that he won the election -- as already stated many of the votes cast for Trump were anti-Clinton/anti-Dem votes and not expressing support of his character.

Actually no. Once FBI released their second investigation news, Hillary's number plummeted and they were both pretty close. Then again, he got less vote and called it a movement. Trump won because of Comey. Since deciding factor in a hated election.
