King Arthur: legend of the sword - 6/10

This is one of those movies you could just tell was going to be a box office flops after watching the trailer. Having said that, it was better than I expected. Not much better but I bumped it from a 5 to a 6 because while it is pretty average but I still found it to be enjoyable. Maybe sword and sorcery movies are just my thing (they are) and I might be biased (sons of anarchy is my favorite show) but I think it's worth a watch. I don't think Charlie was the problem. Don't listen to the super harsh critics for this one. It's worth deciding for yourself.

Biggest negative for me was some of the changes to the legend that they made as well as some of fantasy elements like the giant elephants. That and the stupid David Beckham cameo.

GotG2: 8/10 pretty rad movie. It made me wonder if I would have liked the more recent starwars movie if it had been funny. There were a few things that were too silly for how important they seemed to the universe. Garona seemed more entertaining than in the first movie, and Rocket got to be more interesting by half. I cried a bit. Good stuff.

    "Some?"
Other than use of the same names there wasn't much at all about the legend.

    Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 - 7/10

It was good but not better than the original. The jokes were fine and i had a lot of fun in the movie theater.
Unfortunately i didn't like the main Villains, i thought they were really bad and unoriginal.
Also there were little to no scenes with the whole team interacting with eachother. They were always divided in groups.

Good movie non the less but it was a bit over the top with the camera angles and scenes changing every 2 seconds. I walked out of the movie dizzy.
I went to the theater with my mom on mothers day and she thought exactly the same. The movie was all over the place on the action scenes.
But good movie, a shame it was a bit clishê and unoriginal.

Guardians of the galaxy 2. For me it was 7.5/10. Such a dramatic bump-up since I only gave the first movie a 4.

Watched Get Out on desktop today even though I had tons and tons of work to do. I blame hellhamster for posting a rating about it and making me want to see it, since I was skeptical of it since I saw the trailer.

The graphic detail was amazing. They used some amazing cameras. It was really HD. Sound quality was great, too.

The movie itself was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo slow. Omg. Literally the 2 minute trailer is all you need to know for the first like 1.25 hours of the movie. They stretched it all out into boring nothingness during that time.

The end sequence is pretty alright though. It wasn't horrible.

Overall the movie sucked. You sit there for over an hour not even sure what category (horror, comedy) the movie is and the pace is slow and predictable and it's boring and the trailer told you everything you needed to know. Then the ending is like average to mediocre for the genre. I'm giving it 0.75/10.

You should see the last porn video I saw. I'd describe it exactly the same way. I'd rate it up there alongside The Godfather. 10/10 movie for sure.

    Alien Covenant 6/10

A beautiful film that get's lost in it's own ideas when trying to remain as a sequel piece to Prometheus. What feels as a disconnect between Ridley's want of a different story, but the Xenomorph pressures from audience feedback and producers alike result in a mash up of ideas.

    + Fassbender
+ Surprisngly good serious performance from McBride
    + Brilliant first act
    - Jarring shift of pace & tone thereafter
    - Millions of questions
    - Alien is far too naked
    / Somewhat satisfying ending

Few jokes were forced, and too much family emo moments. Otherwise brilliant movie.

    xXx: Return of Xander Cage
    4 out of 10

The entire film is a mess. Looks like a patchwork of cool moments that they just wanted to string together. They're trying too hard. They could have all those cool moments without making the audience feel cheated by their faux twists and turns.

    Spoilers follow..

    - How is David rebuilt when his body is thrown overboard in Prometheus?
    - E. Shaw is not a robotics / android engineer - How did she rebuild him?
    - When David pretends to be Walter, within seconds he has fixed his voicebox, changed clothes, and cut off his own arm?
    - Why did David commit genocide on the engineers when his beef was with the humans?
    - The cycle of Alien life is now broken. David created the eggs. Where's the queen?
    - In his efforts to create a perfect life form, and a weapon to kill humanity or stop them from expanding, he's made a worse weapon than the original. Original was airborne, immediate death, spawns neomorphs. New version requires humans near an egg, a facehugger, incubation, single life form. Low level compared to what came before.
    - The Xenomorph wasn't as intelligent and seemed much more slender than before - Is there more "evolution?"
    - Chestbursters have always ran off in their birthed state as they're vulnerable. Need hours to grow. These would begin to attack immediately.
    - Why was David able to tame them? In previous films they didn't give a fuck who you were, android or human, you got ripped up.

Watched Logan and damn, that was brutally solid. I think it's my favorite X-men movie (I don't consider Deadpool an X-men movie). Sold 8.5/10 for me.

    - Are you sure it was thrown overboard?
    - She does it in the prologue they released, how she knows how to do it I can't tell.
    - It was pretty quick, but we don't know the exact amount of time that passed.
    - David is not inherently interested in getting revenge on humans. He simply wants to create, and releasing the pathogen on the Engineers' planet suited him just as well.
    - I assume the aliens aren't quite done evolving yet. They also didn't cocoon people and outright killed them instead, so I assume they are currently lacking the abilities or desire to breed and build nests rather than just kill.
    - Again, David wasn't interested in a weapon, he was interested in being a creator of life himself.
    - I think so yes.
    - Mhm. Their aggression seems to be their only driving force currently.
    - Possibly also because they aren't evolved yet.

    A Monster Calls:

Didn't know anything about it except for a giant tree monster somehow taking part. Needless to say the movie took me by surprise and I cried my eyes out. However I did connect with the story for personal reasons. The impact on others might be different.

    9/10

Jack Reacher - Never look back:

Yeah, after the badassery of the first movie what I wanted to see was Jack Reacher playing family. Stupid annoying teenage girl was doing stupid annoying things as expected nearly killing everyone and the finale had me literally shouting at the screen (the entire fist fight between Jack and the villain could have been avoided had the women not run off but stayed about 3 meters above the two and realized that there were two freaking guns lying around).

    2/10

    Deepwater Horizon

Good disaster movie. Nothing else to say. Maybe the end was a bit abrupt.

    7.5/10

    Kong - Skull Island

I had a blast. Enjoyed this movie way more than Godzilla because of the characters, especially John C. Reilly's. Story is no Shakespeare of course.

    8/10

Fantastic Beasts and where to find them

I wasn't very captivated by this movie except for Kowalski's parting with them. The rest was okay.

    6/10

    Get Out

Read a lot of positive opinions and I can confirm them. Liked the movie. I don't know if it really qualifies as a horror. I would more tend to treat it as a thriller.

    8/10

    King Arthur: 7/10

Besides having some character names and Excalibur, there is not much connection to the legend. So I decided to not take that into the account when watching. In that approach, I found the move quite entertaining and love the soundtrack and the costumes. OMG the costumes! And I liked the tiny tidbits of actual mythological / occult references, like the final tower scene which corresponds to the Tarot card...

Also found it rather funny that Excalibur had this Frostmourne thing about it regarding looks... blue gleaming runes, icy aura... Though I play a Blood DK as one of my favorite alts, I surely can connect to that.

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword
    6/10

This movie was alot better than I thought it would be. I have no idea why the reviews are so bad as they are? Is it perfect? No. It's most certainly flawed in some areas, but the story is solid (sometimes) and easy to follow, the acting is just great, Jude Law (who I have never been a fan of ) is great here. Charlie Hunnam as Arthur is so into his role too. It was all slightly entertaining.

Only down points were the whole Guy Richie feel of the movie, it took away so much from the movie when it was there.

Like Warcraft is is another movie where I am puzzled why critics were so harsh? I just don't get it.

    Get out 4/10

Was kinda bored through the entire thing.

First half was interesting with everything feeling kinda off but after the ''big'' reveal it was so generic and a big letdown.

Went back and did some research!

    - E. Shaw collected David's body before she took off
    - Discussed how she rebuilt David with others, he could have instructed her how to do so. Good enough for me!
    - I'm content with the reasoning that David just wants to be a creator, like creators himself before him. "Just because he can". Much like the humans said to him in Prometheus. It's disappointing to the created.
    - Hope the next film explains more about the complete Alien lifecycle, and we get something closer to Alien / Aliens when it comes to the design of chestbursters, queens, aliens taking on DNA from their host etc..

I was going to write a review but I pretty much agree with everything Orby said above. The Guy Richie touch works in a movie like Snatch and Lock Stock and Two Smokin' Barrels but I found it out of place in this movie. It didn't really fit but it wasn't a deal breaker and I enjoyed the movie as a whole.
