if you're not in platinum or higher don't even talk to me scrubs
I honestly don't understand the fuzz about this. Winrates are alreay avaible, why this matters so much?

"As you can see above, win rate is indeed a very poor way to judge player skill.
CALCULATION FACTORS
The only factors considered in determining the change in your rating is match outcome and skill difference between players. "
They are definitely not the smartest bunch. Oh well, people really need to understand that these systems only work for ranking teams in certain games or in 1v1 SC2, but alas people need to jack off to their e-peens in every game...

You can rate "optimal play" for each role. This will generate a rating that is reliable to a certain degree but there is no way you can calculate skill levels in pubs.
Win rate is not a good way to judge skill, but a rating based on wins alone is probably the best system you can wish for (however bad that may or may not be.) Any attempt to weight additional statistics into the equation will increase the inaccuracy by a lot. I doubt there is any reasonable way to take KDA or GPM into account, even if you could detect when players are playing support or hard carry there's still a hundred things messing with the statistic.
And I'm not saying ratings are ever accurate or that they could not be completely wrong, nor do I support the system, but still after having played HoN with multiple accounts all I can say the difference between playing in games with very different MMR range was pretty easy to notice.

I think there was a possibility that viewing other people's rating would require you to pay for their premium service, which I doubt that many players will do. And there was also talk of the possibility to set your rating as private if you login to their site. But that's just rumours at this point.

Phantom Lancer relies heavily on early and mid game farming, also a decent PL sends his illusions to go jungle for him or her, you can cut those off. It takes a degree of knowledge (and luck) to decipher what are his illusion and what is him. Best thing you can do is look at the damage output.
Also aoe helps taking em out!

Did I ever mention I like Valve.- Added a privacy setting in the UI so that players can specify whether they want to allow external 3rd party websites to be able to access their match history (defaulted to private).
- Added Troll Warlord!
- Added All Random to matchmaking!
- Added tournament calendar view to the Watch tab!
- Added new item sets for Lone Druid and Necrolyte.
- Least Played mode now eliminates each players' top 40 played heroes, up from 20.
