This is like the "huge" showing of opposition for mandated vaccines up in...Toronto I think? It was emergency responders/health care workers out there opposing mandatory vaccinations for covid. There were like, 200 of them standing in a park! So many people!
And then someone did the math on it and all the people who showed up - and we have no way of knowing how many are actually emergency responders/health care workers so for all we know it could have been all paid actors - and if they are all indeed who they claim to be that represents > 2% of emergency responders/health care workers there.
Which makes things look at lot different. This "big" protest suddenly becomes very small as you see that it's a loud hyperminority that's the issue, not the majority of folks that are fine taking the vaccine just like they were fine taking the polio vaccine so they wouldn't end up in an iron fuckin lung.
If you think that occasional "protests" against Biden are damning, boy you really missed the four years of American media, academia, and the public constantly and unrelentingly slamming Trump.
Though I think some of those incidents might have even made their way to you; I hear Trump had people pepper sprayed on his way to a church he wasn't invited to for a photo op where he held a bible upside-down. Ringing any bells?
Meanwhile, what did Biden do... wear a tan suit?
I look forward to your next post in two weeks where you once again try and make something out of nothing to claim you have something even approaching legitimate concern or moral high ground.

In which we see the lies being literally created in real time, and the useful idiots in the Republican party all to happy to repeat them. This is what happens when an entire political party takes leave of reality.
On Tuesday morning, one of the most senior and important Republican senators used one of the most prominent settings in official Washington to level one of the most serious allegations possible against the commander in chief. And his charge was based on an utter fabrication.
Sen. Jim Risch of Idaho, ranking Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, used a hearing intended for sworn testimony from the secretary of state on the Afghanistan withdrawal to allege that President Biden is mentally incompetent.
Risch first devoted his opening statement to continuing the long-running Republican narrative. “We know for a fact the president of the United States is somewhat disadvantaged here in that someone is calling the shots. He can’t even speak without someone in the White House censoring it or signing off on it,” the senator claimed. “As recently as yesterday, in mid-sentence, he was cut off by someone in the White House who makes the decision that the president of the United States is not speaking correctly. … This is a puppeteer act.”
Then, as the first Republican questioner, Risch used his time to elaborate on the slander. “Somebody in the White House who has authority to press the button and stop the president, cut off the president’s speaking ability and sound," he told Secretary of State Antony Blinken. "Who is that person?”
Blinken chuckled as he replied that the loose-lipped Biden “speaks very clearly and very deliberately for himself.”
Risch was unconvinced. “Are you saying there is no one in the White House that can cut him off? Because yesterday that happened and it’s happened a number of times before that.”
Smiling, Blinken assured Risch that “there is no such person.”
Risch insisted, again, that “it happened yesterday at the Interagency Fire Center. It was widely reported. … Are you telling this committee that this does not happen, that there is no one in the White House who pushes the button and cuts him off in mid-sentence?”
After yet another back-and-forth on the matter, Blinken finally told the senator: “I really don’t know what you are referring to.”
There’s good reason for that: It didn’t happen.
...
The story begins with the White House’s Monday press schedule, which announced that Biden would receive a wildfire briefing in Boise. The press coverage was listed as “out-of-town pool spray at the top.” In English, this means that a group of the traveling White House press corps is admitted to the event at the beginning and then brought out after journalists get some video and audio. It’s a routine practice presidents have used for decades. And that’s exactly what happened Monday. According to the pool report, the group was escorted in at 12:08 p.m. for the start of the briefing and “escorted out at roughly 12:35” — a relatively long spray.
That would have been the end of the matter, except that somebody in the research department at the RNC, watching the White House’s livestream, decided that something nefarious had happened. “White House feed cuts out as Biden starts to ask a question,” the RNC tweeted.
Rupert Murdoch’s New York Post, crediting the RNC for the scoop, published an article under the headline, “White House livestream cuts Biden mid-sentence as he goes off script.”
“An official White House livestream of President Biden’s remarks was abruptly cut off mid-sentence on Monday,” it began, linking Monday’s “incident” to White House officials’ “fear he’ll veer wildly off-message.”
All that was left was for Risch to trumpet the fabrication — and then to demand to know why Blinken was “unaware this is actually happening.”
Bonus points: The sidetracking on the baseless lie distracted from what should have been a largely a great place for Republicans to attack Biden over Afghanistan.
Well you're missing the big, flashing "Projection" sign since this is exactly what was going on with the Trump administration. People would feed him lines during a briefing, he'd fuck them up on camera and then while everyone was laughing at him the people who did the most harm in his administration carried on with their deeds just asking for his "autograph" on some documents from time to time.
I think anytime someone in the GOP wants to question Biden's sanity he should just respond with "Person, Woman, Man, Camera, TV" and walk away with a shit-eating grin on his face.
Most people are probably going to forget about Afghanistan by 2022 and the takeaway will be “it’s good we’re out” more than “Biden and co. were not adequately prepared for withdrawal.”
Besides, the reason why the withdrawal was such mess is fairly complicated and had to do with trumps original withdrawal schedule, nuances to the taliban’s fighting schedule, the Afghan military, and many other things too complicated to give the average Trump voter single-word catch phrases to toss around like they did with “Benghazi” with Hillary.

Early numbers looking good for California to keep some of their sanity.
Newsom probably survives recall. It turns out, a lot of voters prefer someone with capable governing experience and who has proven to take the pandemic seriously, over people who tweet in all caps from the sidelines.
It will be official either way soon enough. With 59 percent of the vote tallied in an election conducted almost entirely through the mail, just 33 percent of voters supported recalling Newsom; the Associated Press projected the recall would fail.
Supporters of the recall gathered more than 2.1 million signatures to force an election, after a state judge granted them an extension because of the coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic, and the lockdowns Newsom ordered, fueled the anger that bolstered the signature-gathering efforts.
But Newsom’s response to the pandemic also undergirded a summer rebound that led to his victory. The race to inoculate Californians against the coronavirus made the state one of the most vaccinated in America, while stimulus measures passed by the Democratic-controlled state legislature send recovery checks to small businesses and low-income residents just as ballots hit mailboxes around the state.
Polls showed most California voters favored the types of vaccine and mask mandates that Newsom has imposed, and Newsom’s paid media had emphasized the contrast with his opponents — and chiefly conservative radio host Larry Elder (R) — who were critical of the mandates. More than 83 percent of Californians have already received at least one dose of the vaccine, one of the highest rates in the nation.

Interesting.
When you click on the FOX News headline "Embattled Gov. Newsom's fate is sealed after facing slew of GOP challengers in monthslong recall race" it takes you to an article with a headline "The No's have it - Gov. Gavin Newsom survives in California recall election".
I refreshed several times. "Fate is sealed" is...I mean, I guess it's technically accurate.

Just like most red states have 30-45% voting for team Blue. But you never hear dotards like texaslies ever show concern for those voters like they have over the "ignired" red voters in blue states.
Cute fact, that we already know, if it weren't for gerrymandering and voter suppression laws the GOP would be a small regional party. They would never have a majority nor rarely, if ever win the presidency. Like I've pointed out. Dem representatives in the state of Michigan routinely get 60% of the total votes yet typically have 30-40% of the house seats for the state. Doesn't really add up when you almost consistently have 2 dem senators to never have a majority of dem representatives.

Fucking rich coming from you. Seems like you guys don't like the taste of your own medicine. Back to the kids table. The adults are talking.
No shit. I was referring to the fact that they have won only 1 popular vote since 1988. The country isn't split 50/50 like they think. it's about 40 Dem/30 GOP/20 Dem leaning independent/10 GOP leaning independent. If things were fair, like proportional representation according to the Wyoming rule, the GOP would never hold the office of the president. Gerrymandering is what keeps them in power in congress most of the time.

Not a huge update, but the fact that we're not seeing a massive What A Twist! change means Newsom is still okay. NYTimes posted 38 minutes ago Newsom had 64.2% of the vote with 67% reporting.
