I don't know, Trump, it may be because you are a fucking liar with the honor system and hosting super spreader events.
Remember when Trumpists were insisting that Biden would bail on the debates because hE's SeNiLe? Where are those guys now? We'll probably need a telescope to find where those goal posts have moved.

What's more concerning to me is that he's skipping the debate to hold a rally. Just days after leaving the hospital. Trump is still an infectious plague rat. It's not just his supporters who are at risk when Trump decides to hold a superspreader event. It will be all the people connected to his supporters that didn't choose to go to that rally, too.

And as usual, we shouldn't be the ones saying this. His own supporters should be telling him no. They should want him to be healthy. They should want to preserve the health of those who share their political sympathies, too. Now they're going to get an actual disease to join their mental disease.

Looks like this week finally broke Nate Silver a bit.
The idea of forcing uncertainty and headline kerning into your model just doesnt work when the GOP openly implodes. In headline after headline...

Biden winning 400 electoral votes is now the most likely occurrence.

The Economist disagrees, thinks Biden only winning 370 electoral votes is most likely.

    That was September...
    • One candidate wont show up!
    • One candidate is taking performance enhancing drugs!

    August was:
    • Kamala is the worst VP pick!
    • Karen Bass or Susan Rice will be better VP picks!

He might want to hold a rally, but what venue/security companies are going to rent out their employees for him to infect?

It would be a public relations nightmare for them so I think he's going to struggle, and that's if they can even get their employees to go along with it in the first place.

Agreed. There are so few undecided voters and nobody trusts Trump.

If Trump has something actually damning on Biden, he's running out of time to use it. He already blew his load on Hunter Biden in the debate he lost.

Burisma was their best shot. Pretty much their only shot.
Team Trump really wanted to be running against Socialism this election.

I do love how I posted that FOX News analysis giving Trump +3 points and Biden still wins.

But I keep going back to 270towin, which has 290 for Biden right now, 163 for Trump, and 85 undecided including Florida, NC and Georgia. However 70 of Biden's 290 are only slightly in his favor.

This is not over yet. Biden needs to continue doing well and not giving Trump anything to work with. Honestly, cancelling the debate might work in that direction since a lack of debate, other than proving Trump a coward, removes Trump's chance to score points from it. Nobody undecided will believe "rigged".

With Trump at least claiming he feels well enough to rally, Biden's going to have to exploit Trump's current biggest weakness: he has no money. Oh, neither does his campaign. I stil say the best move is to force Trump on the defensive, trolling him in states like Florida and Ohio, forcing him to spend time and resources to hold onto states that any real Republican would have locked up by now. While Trump is on the defensive, Biden should reinforce his lead in places like Pennsylvania, Arizona and Michigan. Biden doesn't need new territory. Biden needs to keep what he has.

The exception I keep making is Ohio. With Kasich in tow, and with nearby alllied states, Biden could push Ohio. His team will have to decide if it's worth it. Right now, they seem to be more interested in Florida, which I get because of the PR hurricane but geographically doesn't seem as sound. If Biden keeps what he has but also gets either Georgia, or Florida, or Ohio, I think he has more EC votes than Trump 2016.

You've seen the debates. They are running against socialism. And apparently Clinton, based on the Trump/Barr thing.

Oh, and yes, it's worth pointing out that Trump might claim socialism is bad while handing checks to farmers more than they earned in sales, demanding more PPP funds, and saying he will give COVID cures to seniors for free. But those claims are just flat-out contradictory.

It is not possible to be a Trump supporter, without being a hypocrite.

Damn, Trump chickening out of the debate before he's on a ventilator was way ahead of my timeline.

BY THE WAY, in some related topics, y'all see the Feds stop a militia plot to kidnap a sitting governor?

    https://www.detroitnews.com/story/ne...er/5922301002/

The FBI says it thwarted what it described as a plot to violently overthrow the government and kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, and federal prosecutors are expected to discuss the alleged conspiracy later Thursday.

The alleged plot involved reaching out to members of a Michigan militia, according to a federal affidavit filed Thursday.

"Several members talked about murdering 'tyrants' or 'taking' a sitting governor," an FBI agent wrote in the affidavit. "The group decided they needed to increase their numbers and encouraged each other to talk to their neighbors and spread their message."

The affidavit was filed hours after a team of FBI agents raided a Hartland Township home Wednesday and comes amid an ongoing investigation into the death of a Metro Detroit man killed during a shootout with FBI agents.

The conspiracy described by the FBI involved at least six people, including Ty Garbin, 24, whose home was raided by agents in Hartland Township late Wednesday.

    My favorite part -

Here are the facts: President Trump will have posted multiple negative tests prior to the debate, so there is no need for this unilateral declaration.
Because he hasn't yet, and they're now in the business of predicting the future.

If he's not on a ventilator by Tuesday I'll genuinely be impressed.

"They don't want to see us debate, so we won't debate!"

    Um...okay....

I don't know which is worse, Trump calling the Committee swamp creatures, or Trump claiming he won the first debate. Also, he infected 11 Committee staff, and now he's insulting them as well?

This is going to be so much funnier if he changes his mind and attends.

That is a very solid and strong argument for expand SCOTUS. Make it something Yuge, too, so any ideas of future expansion seem trivial - like 19 or 27.

That is seriously just the trashiest possible statement. This is worse than some/most of Trump tweets. I can't believe a presidential campaign manager put this out. Brad must be...all tied up atm.

They've abandoned all pretences of being civil to anyone. It's the weirdest campaign for re-election or election I've ever seen.

    Nearly 100% false.

Both received ultimately the same amount of time (within about 30 seconds) to talk. Pence interrupted more than Harris did (this has also been tracked). Harris didn't answer one question, but Pence failed to answer ANY questions. And I don't want to hear one fucking word from the right about "changing rules" since that is ALL they've done this entire administration.

Actually, it's been like this from the beginning. Here's the very first archive.org snapshot of that page from August:
