Battle for Azeroth Season 2 - Live This Week
Battle for Azeroth Season 2 launches this week, bringing a new raid, PvP Season, Mythic+ season, increased caps, and more!

Content Difficulty and Rewards Changes
With a new raid opening, the item level of many rewards are going up!

  • New Maximum Item Level: The maximum possible item level will go up to 425.
  • Battle for Darkshore Warfront: Rewards will increase to item level 400 for both the outdoor boss and the Warfront quest that can be completed once per cycle. The difficulty of the Warfront will increase bu 15%, and the item level required to queue will increase to 335. These changes will go into effect after the current Warfront cycle has ended. Until that time, players will still receive Season 1 rewards.
  • World Quest Emissary Rewards: World Quest Emissary weapon and armor rewards will also now scale up to 385 based on the player’s own item level. Rewards from the original Battle for Azeroth Launch World bosses will remain at item level 355 to stay on par with Uldir.
  • Dungeon Rewards and Difficulty: The item level of rewards from max-level Normal, Heroic, and Mythic dungeons will go up by 30. Baseline rewards will be 340 from Normal, 355 from Heroic, and 370 from non-Keystone Mythic. Difficulty of Heroic and Mythic dungeons will also go up by roughly 30%; Normal dungeons are unchanged.
  • Mythic Keystone Dungeons: Mythic+ rewards will also go up by 30 item levels. During the first week of Season 2 Mythic Keystone Dungeon rewards will be capped at Mythic 6 quality (item level 385). Mythic Keystones will go down by an additional 3 levels when the season transition occurs.
  • PvP: PvP Season 2 end-of-match rewards will be capped at 385 for the first week of the season. Rewards from rated PvP sources are 30 item levels higher than they were in Season 1, including Conquest rewards and the weekly chest.
  • Seals of Wartorn Fate: Seals of Wartorn Fate are not being reset and this same currency can be used for Battle of Dazar’alor and Season 2 bonus rolls; the cap on how many can be held at once remains at 5.

New Raid - Battle of Dazar'alor
Normal and Heroic Battle of Dazar'alor open this week, with Mythic and Raid Finder (item level 350 required) opening next week.

War Campaign Continues
The War Campaign quests are live!

  • The Fall of Zuldazar (A) - The Kul Tiran fleet is preparing to attack Zuldazar. To guarantee victory, the Alliance must create a distraction in Nazmir to lure away the armies of the Horde and Zandalari.
  • War Is Here (H) - The Alliance attack on Zandalar has begun! Their forces march through Nazmir under the guise of a mysterious fog.

Dungeon Changes
Rewards and difficulty are being buffed with the start of Season 2.

  • The new seasonal affix is Reaping!
    • Bwonsamdi will offer you Bwonsamdi's Bargain, increasing damage and healing, but this comes at a price.
    • Every 20% of the Enemy Forces completion, ghost versions of the mobs that you've killed will spawn and rush to the group to engage you.
    • These ghosts have half the HP of the mobs, won't aggro regular mobs, and have a large aggro radius.
    • Some ghosts apply a stacking DoT, some need to be interrupted, and some put bad things on the ground that you need to avoid standing in.
  • The item level of rewards from max-level Normal, Heroic, and Mythic dungeons will go up by 30. Baseline rewards will be 340 from Normal, 355 from Heroic, and 370 from non-Keystone Mythic.
  • Difficulty of Heroic and Mythic dungeons will also go up by roughly 30%; Normal dungeons are unchanged.
  • Mythic Keystones will go down by an additional 3 levels when the season transition occurs, to account for this difficulty increase. So if you do an 11 this coming week, instead of getting a Level 10 keystone when Season 2 starts, expect a 7.
  • Mythic+ rewards will also go up by 30 item levels; however, during the first week of Season 2, rewards from end-of-run chests will be capped at Mythic 6 quality (item level 385), and the chest you open next week will contain Season 1 rewards if you do a Mythic+ run this week. (So, for example, if you do a Mythic 10 during the final week of Season 1, you’ll get a Season 1 item level 380 piece and 60 Residuum from your first Season 2 chest.)
  • The weekly cache that becomes available in the second week of the season will not be affected by this cap, so if a player does a Mythic 10 dungeon during the first week, they will get a Mythic 10 reward (item level 410+) from their cache the following week.

Warfronts - Battle for Darkshore
Rewards from the Battle for Darkshore warfront are being buffed with the start of Season 2.

  • Arathi/Stromgarde rewards will remain as they were previously.
  • Darkshore rewards will go up by 15 item levels, so that the outdoor world boss and the once-per-cycle quest both award item-level 400 gear.
  • The power of all enemies in the Darkshore Warfront will also go up by roughly 15%, and the item level required to queue for Darkshore will go up from 320 to 335.
  • Special note: The two Darkshore changes will only take effect after the current Warfront cycle has ended. So if Alliance is attacking Darkshore in a given region when Season 2 begins, and has 3 days left in that attack cycle, that Darkshore will still give Season 1 rewards. This is being done to avoid any unfairness to people who had already completed the Warfront or done the world boss just prior to the season rollover.

Artifact Knowledge
The Heart of Azeroth will once again begin gaining Artifact Knowledge!

  • Artifact Knowledge will resume accruing starting from January 22nd, increasing the effect of AP earned by 30%.
  • A total of 10 new ranks will be granted and Knowledge will pause again after the week of March 26th
  • Note that the Heart of Azeroth currently has a maximum level of 50. This cap will increase in the Rise of Azshara update, along with significant changes to the underlying system.

Azerite Armor and Traits
A fifth ring with new traits is coming in Season 2, as well as a vendor that sells random and specific Azerite Armor pieces.

  • Gear from the Battle of Dazar'alor raid, Season 2 PvP, World Quest Emissaries, and the Mythic Keystone vendor will all have the new fifth ring.
  • Gear from previous seasons and sources will not have the new traits or ring.
  • The fifth ring unlocks at Heart of Azeroth level 15.
  • The fifth ring has two spec specific trait options for each spec.
  • The fourth ring continues to have one spec specific trait for each spec or the option of a general trait.
  • Battle of Dazar'alor gear has more Stamina than expected for the item level in the dungeon journal.
  • Emissary caches and similar rewards like Assault wrapper quests will award loot based on your spec (or loot spec, if chosen) instead of your class.

Azerite Armor - Ring Unlock Levels
The outermost ring unlocks at Heart of Azeroth Level 15 for gear from any difficulty.

  • Raid Finder (Item Level 370)
    • Head - Level 15, 26, 30, 34, 38

    • Chest - Level 15, 32, 37, 42, 47
    • Shoulders - Level 15, 33, 38, 43, 48

Titan Residuum
  • Titan Residuum will be rewarded from Mythic+ weekly chests, occasional Treasure Map missions, and by scrapping or disenchanting Azerite armor.
  • Titan Residuum is not reset or capped between seasons.
  • Thaumaturge Vashreen will offer item level 385, 400, and 415 pieces for sale in Season 2.
    • A random item-level 385 token costs 165 (as it does today)
    • A random 400 costs 675
    • A random 415 costs 1725
    • A specific item-level 415 armor piece costs 7150
  • Just as Residuum costs roughly triple with each 15-ilvl tier, so will rewards:
    • Disenchanting an item level 400 Azerite piece yields 115 Residuum
    • Disenchanting an item level 415 Azerite piece yields 365 Residuum
    • A weekly cache for a Mythic 4 in Season 2 awards roughly the same 60 Residuum that a Mythic 10 did in Season 1; a Mythic 10 in Season 2 will award ~625 Residuum

Battle for Azeroth Pvp Season 2
PvP Season 2 introduces an updated Conquest reward schedule, mounts, and gear. Players who earn 500 Conquest points in a given week will be still be able to choose a piece of gear from each week’s selection; in addition, they’ll now earn a Quartermaster's Coin, which can be collected and ultimately used to upgrade pieces from this season’s Sinister Gladiator PvP set.

Forbes Interview with Lead Game Designer Morgan Day
Forbes interviewed lead game designer Morgan Day about Mythic Plus.

  • General Mythic Plus
    • When originally designing Mythic dungeons for Bfa, the team added additional mechanics to trash on Mythic difficulty, but toned it down a bit further into the design process.
    • The team strives to to make sure they're not doing anything that's going to play really poorly with Mythic Plus.
    • The team learned from Legion that any mechanic involving damage ramping up over time has to have a soft cap for Mythic Plus or the fight becomes nearly impossible on Tyrannical.
    • The team likes having rotating affixes each week to try and push people into different areas and different parts of content in a way that keeps it hopefully feeling a lot more fresh and interesting.
    • The team likes variance, but if an affix or dungeon has too many outlying difficulty problems then they want to address those and bring them in line with the difficulty of other dungeons/affixes.
    • It's actually a fixed list of hand-picked or hand-crafted affix combinations that come up every week.
    • Fortified and Tyrannical are not being looked at for changes. Part of the problem these two affixes had was the seasonal affix Infested, which is going away. These issues will likely take care of themselves with its retirement.
    • Reaping creatures don't gain Fortified themselves, but the way everything works is that the creature will spawn with half the health of the creature that dies, so in that regard it gets a small percentage of Fortified.
    • Reaping enemies are only indirectly affected by affixes that alter the enemy trash's health amount. They do not gain damage bonuses or other effects.
    • There are no immediate plans to allow people to delete their keys or swap for a new one, but the issue has been discussed among the team.
    • Instead of giving players the option to delete keys, the team would rather bring the unpopular dungeons in line with the difficulty of the more popular ones.
    • If your group doesn't have a key that you want to run, the ability to look for other keys in dungeon finder is an option.
  • Mythic Dungeon International
    • If you can do a certain number of Mythic Plus keys in time, that actually gets you invited into the Time Trial stage, and from there everyone's on the Tournament Realm.
    • The Tournament Realm will give everyone an equal playing field with the same gear.

Uldir Boss Guides » Glory of the Uldir Raider Achievement Guide
Battle for Dazar'alor is almost here, but you can pass the time until then by completing the Glory of the Uldir Raider achievement and earning the Bloodgorged Crawg.

Glory of the Uldir Raider is the meta achievement for the Uldir raid in Battle for Azeroth. This achievement rewards the Bloodgorged Crawg mount, one of the only two Crawg mounts released at launch.

This guide will assume that players attempting the achievements have extensive knowledge of the fights, if not then please check the Uldir Boss Guides.

Overview

It is highly recommended that you plan your raid setup ahead of time, since there are a few factors that will make the achievements slightly easier. A small raid size works best, with enough different classes to cover all buffs and debuffs, as well as some CC. There are also a few key classes which you should bring:
  • 1 Demon Hunter to collect the Orbs of Harmony during the Taloc achievement
  • 1 Priest to shield players during the Fetid Devourer achievement
  • 1 Death Knight to death grip players out of the orbs during the Mythrax fight

Elevator Music

To complete this achievement, you need to collect all 4 Orbs of Harmony during the Taloc boss fight. The orbs are found in the elevator shaft, and you can pick them up as the boss goes down during phase 2. The orbs are in random positions, and the ones you collect won’t reset if you wipe, unless you reset the instance.

An easier way to do it is to bring a Havoc Demon Hunter and get them to jump down while gliding and Fel Rushing to pick up all the orbs, and wait for you at the bottom. You can see an example of that in the following clip.

Parental Controls

To complete this achievement you have to enter the correct passcode during the MOTHER boss fight. The passcode is introduced by clicking a sequence of 3 buttons that you can find in either side of each of the 3 rooms (both buttons in each room are essentially the same one). The passcode is randomized every time, leaving 6 different possible combinations (123, 132, 213, 231, 312, 321). To figure out the passcode, you need to do the following:
  • Click one of the buttons, and check if it becomes unclickable. Repeat for each room until one becomes unclickable, which means that you have found the correct start of the sequence.
  • Click one of the two remaining buttons, check if it becomes unclickable. If it doesn’t then you’ll have to click the other one.
  • Once you’ve found the correct first 2 buttons, click the remaining button and then check that all the buttons are unclickable.

The best way to do this is to send a few DPS and a healer to the second or the third room to check the buttons.
Do all the steps, defeat the boss and the achievement is yours.

Thrash Mouth - All Stars

To complete this achievement you need to make every player in the raid get hit by Terrible Thrash during the Fetid Devourer boss fight. Terrible Thrash is one of the tank mechanics of the boss. Every 4th melee attack, it hits the target closest to the main tank for 300% of the normal melee damage. You need to rotate every player to get hit at least once every time the boss casts Terrible Thrash.

The boss will enrage at 50% so it’s recommended that all players get hit before you DPS the boss below that threshold. Use any talent or ability that prevents you from dying such as Rogue’s Cheat Death, or Blood Death Knights’ Purgatory, as well as defensive cooldowns before you get hit.

Despite this being a group achievement and not a personal one, any party members that are dead when the boss is killed won’t receive the achievement.

What’s in the Box?

To complete this achievement, a player in your raid group will have to use the Nerubian Archaeology toy Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron during the Zek’voz boss fight.

The box will open when the Projection of Yogg-Saron is summoned, and then will pour Void Barrages every few seconds, dealing damage to all players who stand in the swirlies.

Now We Got Bad Blood

To complete this achievement you need to infect Warmother Rakkali with a Plague Bomb during the Vectis boss fight.

Warmother Rakkali is located right before the entrance to Vectis, on the stairs that would lead to Zul. Plague Bomb is an ability the boss casts during Phase 2 (after it liquefies). The boss will spawn circles on the floor that usually need to be soaked by players so an add doesn’t spawn. For the achievement, you just need to position Warmother Rakkali on top of one of those, wait for it to explode and infect her, and then kill her.

Edgelords

To complete this achievement you will need to kill Zul without any player stepping in the center part of the boss room (the whole square that’s colored differently). This means you will have to deal with the mechanics a little bit differently:
  • Melee DPS won’t be able to hit Zul on Phase 1, so all ranged DPS should focus solely on killing Zul and let the melee deal with the adds.
  • Dispelling the Minions of Zul is a priority since you won’t have as much space to kite. Priests are highly recommended.
  • At 40%, Zul will push back everyone, so you’ll have to face your back to a wall in order not to get knocked off the platform
  • On Phase 2, you have to be very careful not to step in the square since the Rupturing Blood will cover the floor visuals and it will be hard to see. You’ll also have to kite the boss around the edge.

Existential Crisis

Mythrax achievement is fairly straight forward, you must not pick up any Existence Fragments spawned by other players.

This means that once you get hit by a boss ability you'll spawn orbs around, and you'll just have to pick them up.

Spread out decently, avoid getting hit as much as possible, and this achievement is yours!

You can track this achievement and see the players who fail it with the Instance Achievement Tracker Addon.

Double Dribble

To complete this achievement players must not move while holding the Power Matrix during the G’huun boss fight. This means that two or more players will need to throw it to one another, moving only when they are not holding it.

Do this for the 6 Power Matrices you need throughout the fight, kill the boss and the achievement will be done!
